Hi Guys

I have just joined after purchasing my first focus Mk3

It's a 12 plate with 46000 miles

I've had it a couple of weeks and found my first problem with it

at start up from cold i hear a clunking noice whilst idling, also

the revs dip really low whilst the clunking noise is present.

When i press the clutch pedal down the noise dissapears

and whilst driving the noise is present but again goes away

when pressing clutch to change gears.

it's not there every time i use the car, and seems to go away after

driving a few miles.

I know nothing about cars TBH and don't want ripped of going to

a garage. I would rather go with some kind of idea what it may be

Is there a way i can upload a recording of the sound i took on my phone

Any help appreciated

Thanks

Paul

It sounds very much like the flywheel is making the noise

It can be very expensive to replace, did you buy it from a trade seller or privately?

Hi Daz

I just bought recently from Trade seller, it has 60day warranty. I fully intend returning with it to get checked out, but wanted to go with some information first. Just in case they try and fob me off.

Any advice on what to say to them welcome

Thanks again

Paul

Just a wee update

So the mechanic had a listen to it today at the dealership and confirmed it was most probably the flywheel.

it's going back in on monday to get sorted under warranty

Glad you got it fixed, one of the Achilles heels of the modern diesel is the dual mass flywheel, I've seen some last 30k, some 130k
