Looking to replace my 215/50/17's on my Mk3 Focus Has anyone any recomendations on PREMIUM brand/tyre for a good all rounder, ie good performance and durabilty. The current ones have lasted 20,000 miles driven sensibly, but a little expensive at this time so I thought id see what you learned folks can come up with

Most would suggest purchasing uniroyal rainsport 2's. Nice on the wallet a nd bang for your buck. Its what I have noticed is most popular.

Agreed on the Uniroyals and would also recommend Hankook S1 Evo2 K117s too

I have Cooper CS6's on the front of my ST170, lasted 20k of hard driving. No complaints with the grip in dry or wet weather. They're down to the wear blocks now and I can still corner quite hard in the wet.

I'd look elsewhere.....  Only paid £125 per tyre for 225/40/18s.

Plus Uniroyals aren't classed as a "Premuim" tyre.  If you went for Michelin, Bridgestone etc you'd be looking at £150+ per corner.

Bridgestone potenzas in 225/40/18 only cost me £113 each fitted. Check small independent tyre garages. They beat everyone for prices including camskill.

I have Michelin PS3 on mine and they are fantastic. If you get them through black circle tyres you can break the payments into 12 manageable chunks over the year.

some widely varying prices online for certain tyres, i have 235/40/R18 Conti Sport Contact 3's which is std in most of the MK3 range, though not the ST (they use Goodyear F1 Eagles).

Considering Mitchelin Pilot Sport 3's that EcoMatt mentioned, but will be about £132 per corner, and still wrapping my headaround that Sport Contact 5's being about £20 cheaper per tyre than Sport Contact 3's on some sites!!

Uniroyals for me would only be about £100 each and the new Rainsport 3's are out for about £115.

I just fitted two Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetricals to the front of my ST170.  The Coopers I mentioned earlier in the thread wore out and I wanted the fronts to match the back.

I really like these Goodyears at the front!  They feel a bit more responsive, are quieter and feel more comfortable.  Really happy with them for £92 each.

I've just been reading some very positive reviews ragarding the new Uniroyal Rainsport 3 tyre. I've got to say I'm very tempted to try these when I finally decide on some new wheels for my Zetec-S. Funny, I would never have thought about giving Uniroyal a whirl; I was almost set on Vredestein Ultrac Vorti, this time.

be interesting to see how you got on simonize46 i have since fitted goodyear performance efficient grip. found they are not as good on initial pull off as the michellin were. causing more wheelspin than before hence wear rate is greater than michellin.
