1.8 2009 Chain Or Cambelt ?

Hi my 2009 focus 1.8 tdci is it chain driven or belt driven ? I've you tube videos showing some are wet belt system in a mondeo ? Just returning to Ford's after 10 year break

Belt driven, at least mine was.

All Focus diesels are belt driven

Yes its belt driven and when changing its recommended that you change the cassette belt too (wet belt) as this drives the fuel pump and do snap :(

What's belt change intervals and price for job to do both belts I'm on 39,000 and 6 years old

125k or 10 years

Cost around £500 to replace

the 1.8 TDCI has two belts/chain

pre-2007/8 the 1.8 TDCI has a belt from the camshaft to the fuel pump drive, and a chain from the fuel pump drive to the crankshaft,

after around 2007/8 the chain was replaced with a wet belt system. since yours is 2009 it most likely will have the wet belt.

the chain usually is not replaced along with the usual timing belt replacement at 125k (safer to do it before though) but with the wet belt this should also be repalced at the same time as it would be good bye engine if it was not replaced.
