  1. I thought this was only an option on higher spec cars where by your headlights stay on for a while to light up your drive after you have turned off the ignition and got out of the car, but quite by accident when cleaning the interior of my motor I knocked the left hand stalk (as if you were to flash the high beam).I didn't think anything of it until I got out of the car and noticed the lights were on,I carried on going with the intension of coming back a few minutes later to switch them off but on my return I noticed that they had switched off automatically. On further investigation I found tha
  2. I'd be worried sick about breaking something every time I filled up.What was wrong with the standard filler cap or is this one of those how to stop the other half putting the wrong fuel in the tank systems. :?:
  3. I think there is a big difference between 70% worn and hardly worn especialy as i'm only averaging 7500 miles a year.Would you not say that 70% implied that they should be changed sooner rather than later, bare in mind my previous mk1 focus had done in excess of 35000 miles before the front brake pads got changed and my driving habits haven't changed in the intervening years.
  4. Well what do you know after taking my car to a locally respected garage were I had the car booked in to have the front brake pads done (on fords recommendation at the service)I was informed that the pads did not need replacing at all in fact the fitter said they where hardly worn at all.So to sum up the cost of the job went from £135 (frord price )to £00 (honest bloke at local garage). Is it fords policy to rip off the general public with unneccessary work just to balance the books on slow days or am I just being sinical. In short if ford ever tell you something needs doing get a second opini
  5. I made a few enquiries at a local motor factors and was told that changing to green stuff pads could cause problems when braking without changing the discs to the grooved variety (something to do with the heating properties of the compound on the green stuff pads)for this reason i've booked the car in at a local fitters who use Ferodo pads the whole job will cost just £57 !!(if you remember frord wanted a whopping £135 for the same job .The bloke at the garage nearly fell off his chair when I told him).
  6. Thanks guys, looks like I'll be going for the EBC green stuff pads as soon as funds allow. Will just have to find someone to fit them when I get them(shouldn't be too hard to find someone cheaper than ford). Steve
  7. I've just had the car serviced and have been advised that my front pads are 70% worn.Thought this might be a good chance to upgrade to a higher quality set of pads as i've never been overly impressed with fords standard pads (which they want £135 for fitted.Thats £75 labour+£60 parts)any recommendations please. cheers Steve
  8. Hi Rocky I've just seen your PM ,unfortunatly I've got the car booked in for its service on the saturday and doing some stuff with the wife and kids on the sunday ,but thanks for the thought. Lets hope the weather warms up a bit for you and have a good meet. cheers Steve
  9. If you go back to the link that sunny has given then go up to the top of the page and bring down the drop down list of models you will find one that says "FOCUS SALOON/HATCH"click on this and this gives the correct info/prices for mkII discs. Hope this helps.
  10. My CD6000 also has no problems playing CDR's but it can take longer to read some discs than others I have used.Sony CDR's take longer to set themselves up than JVC discs that I've had in the past. Steve
  11. At last a geniune benefit to the LX spec,I knew there had to be one :D
  12. I had a similar problem with mine and the steering did seem more weighted to one side than the other, but I've just had new tyres fitted and the tracking done and was told it was slightly out .This seems to have sorted it out ,so its well worth checking this out as it doesn't take much to knock the tracking out of line but can greatly effect the way the car drives and feels on the road. Hope this helps mate.
  13. I also have had the intermitant starting issue on my mk2 but I think that the trying to start her up to quickly is the main reason as I used to get the same problem with my mk1.It can be annoying but I'm not sure if it's a fault or just a quirk of the ignition system.
  14. Went with Pirelli P Zero Rosso's from Kwik Fit(not everyones favourite place but they had the best deal in my area)but the idiots managed to damage one of my alloys :evil:had a word with the manager and they have agreed to cover the cost of the repair to the tune of a not to insignificant £100+vat for the one wheel.Lets hope this makes them take a little more care with other peoples property.
  15. The new RS focus will be produced in the new shape and from the pictures I've seen it,s defo got that "I WANT ONE" appeal, but if what was said earlier is right and they are limiting 3doors to the ST & RS models it will be shame for those that want the sportier look without the cost of the flag ship models. As regards the rear lights if they are anything like the ones I saw on a new C Max the other day they do look good when in use.
