  1. Thanks Tony, but don't think its that, as it happens at all speeds. An audio dealer had my head unit out recently to try and fit my CD changer. It couldn't be done, but do you think they have left something loose or dangling as I don't recall the noise before they took the head unit out? It's possible that it's purely coincidental though :?
  2. I have a strange metallic like rattle, that seems to be coming from behind the glove box, or centre console area. Has anyone else any similar expreriences? How easy is it to remove the glove box to have a look behind? Car is an 05 ZC. Thanks Craig
  3. Occasionally when I change into third in my 05 1.6 TDCi ZC, there is a very noticable flat spot. It only lasts about a second and then its fine again. It only ever happens in third, all other gears are fine thoroughout the rev range, and it doesn't happen every time. I know it is not just lag from the turbo, you can almost feel the hesitancy while accelerating, almost like a mis-fire. Any one else suffer similar experiences, or ideas what may be causing this? Craig
  4. Eveything OK with mine. There is an active recall for rear wipers with the new Focus. Might not be related but maybe worth checking it's been done just in case. Craig
  5. Just completed a couple of long runs with my 05 1.6 TDCi (110 PS). Both journeys had 4 adults in the car, and a boot jammed with luggage. Tyre pressures were increased to accomodate the extra weight. Journey 1, Dundee - Portsmouth 520 miles, average fuel 62.46 mpg (66.4 according to computer). This journey never exceeded 70 mph. Journey 2, Ramsgate - Dundee 570.2 miles, average fuel 49.85 mpg (53.4). This journey included 3 huge traffic jams on M25 and M6, and motorway cruising was mostly between 75 and 85 mph. Shows the effect a higher cruising speed has on economy. Very impressed overall tho
  6. My 05 1.6 TDCi has orange coolant which Ford say is no longer in production, and what they now supply is a purple fluid. Is it safe to simply top up the orange fluid with the purple? Surely just because Ford decide to change the colour of their coolant, owners don't have to go to the hassle and expense of draining and flushing the system when they need to top up?
  7. Just filled up after using my first full tank in my 05 Focus ZC. Very impressed so far with the economy. Got 570.6 miles from the tank before my bottle went, and had to fill it up. The guage was on zero, but computer told me there was enough left for another 33 miles. Working out manually the return was 53.165 mpg, and the trip computer is fairly accurate at 52 mpg. Compared to my old mark 1.5 Zetec 1.8 TDCi, the mpg is better by about 4 or 5 to the gallon. Am well happy with that and hope it continues! :D
  8. My 2005 Zetec Climate has developed a rattle, which I reckon is coming from the passenger door trim, as if I put pressure on it, the rattle stops. Any suggestions or ideas? I can tell it's going to drive me insane!! Thanks Craig
  9. I don't think so as I checked the level when I got the car home, and topped it up myself just to make sure it was full. I'm sure its something to do with the shape of the filler neck.
  10. Just had my Zetec Climate into Ford today for the rear wiper recall. While it was there I had them look at my inoperative screen washers. They have fixed this but I now have a leak of screen wash just in front of the off-side wheel. Is this normal? I think I read elsewhere on the forum of other owners with a leaky screen wash bottle. What is the cure for this? Also the receptionist informed me they had carried out work for another recall, something to do with a 'voltage buffer'. Anyone else had this done or heard about it?
  11. Thanks for the photo, will enquire at the dealer!
  12. Should this engine have some sort of a black cover over it that you see when you open the bonnet? I just collected my 05 plate Zetec Climate on Wednesday and my engine does not have any cover on it like the one you see on the diagram of the engine in the handbook. My old car was a 53 plate 1.8 TDCi and this had a big cover on it. Any pics would be appreciated. Thanks.
  13. Just traded in my 2004 Zetec TDCi, for a 2005 Zetec Climate 3 door, 1.6 TDCi. Can't believe how grown up it feels compared to the older model! So much quieter and better built. Won't get it till the end of next week due to the time taken for my personalised reg to be transferred though. Anyone have any comments on the 1.6 (110PS) TDCi engine? It does feel slightly less powerful, but the delivery is much smoother throughout the rev range, than the 1.8 (115PS) engine. Got it from a dealer for £9600, with 9500 miles on the clock. Does this sound a good deal? Does anyone know also, if the overhea
  14. Cheers for the advice Kevin, we'll see what happens. Good luck with your claim.
