  1. There are recommendations on the DFT website, but as they say, when the Lighting Regs were written, HID's didn't exist. They have therefore cobbled together some guidelines which are not, as far as I am aware, law. You have to remember that it would not be in the public interest to prosecute anyone for anything like this, as it wouldn't serve any real purpose and would be a drain of public money. The cops don't even prosecute for the blue led's you see on boy racers cars, so they're not going to do anything about this. I bet if you dug around enough, you'd see that the bulbs have been gi
  2. That's news to me. I'm sure you can get the bulbs 'E' marked anyway. I think the seller is being over-cautious. All I can tell you is that my Ibiza has passed its MOT with no problems. I also have several friends on traffic (being in that line of work myself) and they have never expressed any problems. HID's are offered as optional extras on many makes of cars. All they do is fit a kit similar to mine. It's up to you at the end of the day, but there's more important things to worry about in my opinion. Thanks, Craig
  3. Hi, The HID's replace your normal dipped beam headlights that you use when it goes dark. It doesn't affect your main beam lamps (you won't use them after converting to HID), nor your side lamps. The kit is from Ebay, and cost £49.32 (cheapest on Ebay). It came from Hong Kong, which can be a pain if they don't work properly but I've never had a problem before, and it was cheaper than paying in excess of £100 for a kit from the UK. The bulbs are H7 and the temp is 6000K. Took the car for a drive ast night and they are excellent, much better than standard. It's one of the few mods that
  4. Hi, I've just posted this on another site, but I thought it might be appropriate to stick it here, if that's OK. I've just completed an install of the HID's and took a few photo's along the way. If you are unsure about fitting them, then this may persuade you to do it.... First, remove the headlamp by removing the large silver screw at the top and push down the two retaining clips at the bottom of the unit You can then tilt the light unit forward to gain access to the rear panel which covers the bulbs. You don't need to unplug the unit if you don't want, it's up to you. I didn
  5. Not yet, but I've priced up a few companies for a remap - prices between £189 and £400+. Done a fair bit of digging on the internet for this and haven't read a single problem with having the engine remapped. Whilst every engine is unique - I've not had any problems with my remapped Ibiza. In the meantime, I'm settling for a good slug of Millers Diesel Power Sport 4 in the tank - worth the £11 I paid. When it runs out, I'll be buying the 5l container for £60 free p&p.
