  1. I would like to change the engine oil and filter on my C max, 1.6 tdi 2004 myself. Is this easy to do for a home mechanic or should it be done in a garage.. Could you do it free standing or would you need car ramps or trolley jacks. And where is the oil filter located.. Any help would be grateful. Cheers Paul.
  2. Hi Guys, I wondered if you can help, I have a C Max, 2004 1.6 tdi and on the console (on the model I have) you have the mileometer and trip meter in a smallish oblong block. According to my manual there are three different types of display available. One is specifically for an automatic and of the other 2 I have the smaller one and to be honest I can't read anything on it whilst driving as the graphics are too small. Is there an option for changing it by magic or am I stuck with what I've got (a bit like life in general, really!) Zooky
  3. I think that provided you keep your fuel filters up tp date and clean, you should'nt have any problems..as been said the fuel is fed from the bottom of the tank anyway.. Zooky
  4. I have finished my tankfull and got 835 klms to 45.5 litres of fuel thats about 51 mpg..a bit lower for blasting up the motorway when on holiday I expect. so happy with that. To..RTV..Just read your post and you say you changed the air flow meter on you c max and you have better results..Mpg and power.. Could you tell me what it cost to buy one one of these and is it easy to fit, sounds like a good idea. Cheers. Zooky
  5. Hi Guys. I have a standard 205-55-16 tyres at the moment so is it a good move to change to 215s...are there any benefits...I know it helps to keep your alloys in better shape and I know they are a little more expensive.. Any thoughts.. Zooky..
  6. My first full tank.. Total..835.Klms or 521 miles, and 46.5 litres of fuel and that works out at 51 mpg.. Happy with that.. Not done the fully loaded 85 mph motroway going on holiday trip yet..but that be long I'm sure.. Zooky
  7. I'm just finishing a full tank as we speak and I've done 817 klms so far and I can't have much left. This includes a country runabout, town driving and a bit of motorway work and during this time it's been in to the garage for an oil change (which I do with any new car I get). So with a fair mixture of driving it looks like about 50 mpg, (but obviously it will be different fully laden on a holiday run at 85 mph on the motorway). Zooky
  8. Update. I have now done 413 klms and its just coming up to the halfway mark. This includes country roads(35/40 mph) with motorways (75/80) and round town stuff plus I'ts just been in the garage for a service which I always do when I get a new car( second hand). PS.. Moan Cannot see the dashboard readings very well they are rather tiny, the screen could be bigger as its only blanked off above it.. Zooky
  9. Hi RTV... Down saff,, just outside Malaga in a village of about 6,000 people. If you look at a map follow the mainroad north out of Malaga the road splits, one road heads left for Sevilla the other goes right and heads for Granada and Madrid we are just past the right fork at a place called, Villannueva Del Trabuco it should be on the map.. About 40 klms from Malaga. Nice and warm and good roads.. Zooky
  10. Ford say 12,500 mls or 20,000 klms which in this heat over here in Spain and the dust as well seems to me to be a too longer period.. I will do a oil/ filter change at 10,000 klms.. Not too sure about the longlife stuff.. Zooky.
  11. Cheers Bob.. I will print that off and try monday.. Zooky..(Paul)
  12. Hi Guys... I would like to use Castrol Magnatec as my first choice but the Magnatec I have seen over here all seem to say that its a full synthetic and not a semi. So can I be a pain in the backside and ask what numbers the Magnatec has which is right for my tdci C Max 2004. Many thanx if you can help.. Zooky.
  13. Thanks Mr R... We might have differant oils over here in Spain as I looked at the Castrol ones and they all said fully synthetic.. Just reading the Ford owners handbook a bit more and it says.. La Especificacion..ACEA A1/B1 o de la ( or) ACEA A3/B3. Vicosidad..SAE 5w-30..SAE 5W-40 ...SAE 10W-40. The Mobil oil reads..Meets / Conforme.. ACEA A3/B3 A2/B2: API SL/SJ/CF. Approved..MB 229.1. VW 505 00. So this looks OK but need more info on the Castrol oil..I will have a look at the Castrol Edge though.. Cheers  Zooky
