  1. Odd that. I paid for my membership of focusowners too, just because they did not make it compulsory.
  2. Because there are already some perfectly good ones available. :D
  3. I think that is the point being made by many of those on the C-Max section - most of us don't do Shows and Meets. It's no big deal to me, I'll just go back to focusowners where you are not required to be part of the Scene to participate. Much like all the other Forums I subscribe to.
  4. We've been through all this before and I left to join focusowners.com along with many more after receiving abuse about being a freeloader, even though I was one of those providing answers. I only recently made a reluctant return here after the other forum went quiet, but I expect it is about to get a boost!
  5. See my earlier post - re EGR valve. Mine is now playing up again, but I'll be trading it in come the new year, so I can't be bothered to get it fixed yet again.
  6. If you are not too sure and are not set up with the tools required, take it to Kwik Fit or similar. It costs hardly any more than the price of the parts and you don't have the mess and disposal problems.
  7. For anyone interested, I've found it. It was the plastic scuttle plate that fits at the bottom of the windscreen under the wiper arms. A clip was missing and it was not laying flat. TDCiBish - if you lift the dash box lid and also pull off the top part of the dash in front of the steering wheel, you will see a row of screws. These were all loose on mine and tightening them (not too much!) helped.
  8. I've narrowed it down a little - the rattle varies as the screen wipers work, but not when I press on the screen. I'm guessing that the garage disturbed something when they cleaned the EGR valve. Does anyone know how to remove the engine bay bulkhead? Do the wiper arms have to come off?
  9. I've had all the usual trouble with dashboard rattles, but have cured them by doing up loose screws or packing with bits of rubber. However, I now have a rattle that I can't trace which seems to come from inside the dash. It does not respond to pushing, pulling or banging on the plastic bits. I first noticed it a week or so ago after it came back from having the software updated, so I am wondering if they may have disturbed anything. Can someone tell me where the socket for this is located?
  10. Mine comes on when the EGR is playing up, but goes out after a couple of days.
  11. Normal behavior! It's like this to help thieves check your mileage before nicking your car.
  12. I've had the TDCi back for just over a week now after the last attempt to sort out the EGR problems. It just dumped me in the middle of a junction and the engine light is now on. I'm going to drive it through the showroom window in the morning.
  13. On mine, the locking has two settings - 1) Press once for driver's door, twice for passenger doors. 2) Press once for all doors plus tailgate. You switch between the two by holding both Lock and Unlock buttons down together for 4 seconds with the ignition off.
  14. Boot switch - as above. Battery - there have been lots of reports of both battery and alternator problems with the C-Max. If the light is still on when you have recharged the battery, it is a charging problem. This could be the alternator, the harness or the drive belt. Also, the charging is controlled via the ECU and there was a revision made to the software in the early days, but yours has probably already had this update.
  15. Mine varies between 60 when driven gently on A roads down to sub 30 for short journeys in town in winter. I get around 48 with mixed motorway / A road.
