grab a cloth and squirt some washing up liquid onto it, then rub your seals. That does the trick.
-
Yep, it's well known.

starting to regret it already

Personnaly I would insist on the new car. Things are merely just catching up. No point in the older car for the sake of a couple of weeks. New Max is actually cheaper than the outgoing one. -
Spoke to Dealdrivers. New Max will arrive back end of April, early May. Factory being 'converted' for the new vehicle.

the total fuel is higher octane I believe.

Should I push for the EGR fix ?
Silver Beast replied to plodge's topic in MK2 - Ford Focus 2005 > 2011
EGR fix does not apply to 1.6 tdci engines only the 2.0. 37pg is absolutely awful. You could get that in a 1.6 petrol. It should be at least 45+. I'd ask for a software update free of charge. -
Thinking of Buying Cmax Zetec (cant Afford Diesel)
Silver Beast replied to laffinorse's topic in MK2 - Ford Focus 2005 > 2011
Diesel all the way. Once I've had the power you'll nover go back to petrol. There is some great deals on the max. Watch depreciation though. I went to my local BCA auction a few weeks ago and a 55 reg 2.0 tdci ghia with 11k sold for £10,300. Only £9000 list then list. -
The EGR valve change should be coupled with CD43 update. This is a must. Get back onto your dealer.

I think some of it might be due to the smooth french roads mind you. On the way down to Dover from Newcastle we were getting 51. This increased on the french side. The car has had the latest software update and has 16k on the clock, I reallly do think these engines dont get settled in until 10k.
-
This one hasn't been asked for a while. How's the MPG going on this engine, especially those that may had the latest software after an egr fix. We've just returned from france and my brother's max averaged 56 mpg over 2500 miles.

Has anyone fitted the Thule system to their MK2 Focus? Whole kit comes to £92.40 or would the ford bars be better combined with the Thule bike carrier? http://www.roofracks.co.uk/main/thule_framset.htm As a follow up to this does anyone know how much the Ford roof bars are and where is the cheapest place?

The spec I'm thinking of buying?

Apologies for being thick, but does the eibach spring kit actually stiffen up the suspension therfore making the ride firmer. -
Diesel fuel types from different companies

According to my crap maths you're getting 60 mpg. Are you sure? -
Had my first real run at in my MK2 Focus 1.6 (100 bhp) at the weekend. Came to the conclusion that is not the engine for long distance comfortable travelling. At 80mph on the motorway you're doing 4000 revs - and it's just too loud. It's not economical either. Covered about 300 miles alot of the time on the M6 with the cruise on (and at speeds less than 70mph) - I'd be lucky if its going to average 37 mpg. It's going to be the darkside soon for me I'm afraid.

My Focus clutch 'smelt' badly at the weekend - was reversing up an acute bank for about 10 yards.
