  1. Excellent choice....makes the car look much better... :P Will make you easier to spot now as well...
  2. The ST is certainly capable of really good MPG figures if driven carefully and you have the right roads. I could certainly get higher figures but the roads here don't allow it. inzor....all being well I should be at the car show... :)
  3. I generally get 27/28 in my ST (CR285) on the daily commute...but can get 34/35 if I'm in super granny mode....which I don't really do these days as it's boring as hell...
  4. Our office is actually located in Blackburn. The building trade has been having a hard time recently...although I've noticed the Wimpey development just outside Inverurie is kicking off again.
  5. That's the one. 7am...Just a bit...I'm normally still in me pit at 7am......one of the benefits of being the boss... :)
  6. Cheers... :) Yep...stay just north of Ellon and travel into Blackburn every day. Normally go through Oldmeldrum and Inverurie on the way.
  7. The ride with 18's isn't too bad on these roads. I drive from Mintlaw through to Blackburn on the back roads. I've just changed to 19's and the ride is still pretty good, but definitely harder than the 18's. If you're coming from having 15/16's then you'll probably be horrified with the 18/19's...  These are mine btw (19x9's)...
  8. Well, at least you're ok, thats the main thing. I did something similar years ago in a 206GTI...I ended up in a field of neaps as well...
  9. As above...glad you're ok... Whereabouts did this happen?
  10. Excellent writeup there... Been looking to do this myself on the ST. Looks like I have the correct light surround already. Will just need to buy the rest of the gubbins... :)
  11. A slight problem that springs to mind is that I would imagine the TDCi runs much higher boost than the ST so the gauge isn't going to show the true pressure. Don't know if there's a means to rescale the gauge to 2 bar fullscale deflection instead of the ST's 1.2 bar...or even modify the gauge electronics is there's enough access. Interesting mod though...would be good to see it working...
  12. Nice writeup there... I've managed to talk another one of my fellow directors into buying a Focus (4 of the 5 directors (including me) now have foci...). Got him a 1.8 TDCi Zetec Climate with a few choice extras. Have to say it does look quite smart with the sports pack alloys...:P Some amazing deals to be had just now on the current model... :)
  13. ***deleted*** Must learn to read posts properly...
  14. I'm up to around 1300 miles now....and my tin of beans has been opened as well...
  15. Does the instant reading fluctuate even when you hold the throttle steady? Something to remember is that the instantaneous reading will vary enormously depending on engine load. In my ST the reading will vary between 20 and 50 will very little change in throttle position.
  16. Thats a common problem when changing the front grille on the mk2....have a look here... http://www.ffoc.co.uk/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=177051
  17. I have to agree with Ronnie on this one. I have done an enormous amount of testing with tuning boxes on my 1.8 TDCi....most of the tuning box manufacturers claim you will get 140+bhp but the reality is somewhat different I'm afraid... I know of 4 TDCi's now that have only made around 125-ish bhp with a tuning box...the car does feel quicker but can be easily embarassed by chavs in tweaked Corsa's and Saxo's (and even 1.6 TDCi's) Here is a dyno plot of mine using a Powermaster... One of my employees has a 1.8 TDCi as well and we've done quite a few comparison tests against my car to see how close they are. His only made 126bhp using a different tuning box. I went with him to collect his car when he originally bought it...on the way home we did some tests....driving side by side we went from 50 to 70 mph in 4th gear (his car was standard..mine had a Bluefin at the time). After the test I was only around a 1/2 a cars length ahead (ie. his front bumper was level with my door)...there really was very little difference. A while back I started to compile some data comparing performance of my car in standard form against Bluefin and the Powermaster tuning box. The stretch of road is slightly up hill so the figures aren't the best that can be achieved...what is important is the differential between the figures... The data isn't complete as I gave up trying to get more performance out of the car... In 4th gear there is quite a nice increase at low speed, but after that there is very little over a standard car. Sorry to say it, but what you have now is probably as good as it gets...thats why I have, like a few others on here, chopped the car in for something better. The 1.8 TDCi is a perfectly good car, but it just isn't very tunable for the reasons Ronnie has pointed out above...
  18. I think the new Focus certainly looks 'modern' conpared to the current mk2. I still don't like it though, but it may grown on me over time. As it stands I would rather save £4K and buy a new current mk2...
  19. Dunno...I'll let you know once I've found it.
  20. I just looked at a route planner as well... Distance : 462 miles Time : 9 hrs 23 minutes So, I think I'll be giving that a miss. T'is a pity that the timing wasn't more advantagous as the place I'm be picking up my new car from isn't far from there...
  21. Might make the trip as well....assuming old Henry has built me car in time.....900 mile round trip though... :?
  22. Thats the MS Design splitter...costs over £400 IIRC...
  23. Noticed that as well....this is the original pic... http://www.forddesktops.com/show.asp?f=focus&i=Ford_Focus_ST_71.jpg&p=2
  24. The front skirt would look better blended into the original front bumper. That way it doesn't look so 'tacked' on. Like so... think I'll be doing the same on my ST when I decide what skirt I go for.
