Interior door openers/handles/locks rubbish ?
monkeyboy replied to monkeyboy's topic in MK2 - Ford Focus 2005 > 2011
1_8zetec_climate. Cheers for your reply ! I actually do think i'm jinxed as a couple of things have broken recently when i touched them. -
I bought a 5 month old focus today with just 600 miles, direct from Motability auction. Managed to break something within minutes - i sat in the car, locked it with the push button on the door, then pulled interior handle to open. Wouldn't open. Checked the manual just to prove to myself that i'm not a muppet. Pulled the interior handle again, a bit harder. Snap !. So, got a handle that has snappe d somewhere along its length, maybe behind the door card, and a lock button that won't pop back out to the neutral position. Have opened 100's of doors, 1000's of times so i think i've generally go

Which 1.6 petrol to buy - the 98bhp or 113bhp

Thanks Minsterman ! Interesting that the 115 is the one that got dropped, and that it was in use for such a short time - since January 2005 as i understand. -

P5byn - thanks for your quick response ! I expected that there would be a difference in the way drive, but on paper there's virtually no difference, and i still can't see why they bothered producing two engines. -
There are apparently two 1.6 petrol engines - the 98bhp and 115ps (113bhp) The figures show no difference in top speed, tax bracket or mpg - but the 115ps has a slightly faster 0-60mph time. So why bother with 2 engines, and does it matter which one i get? The 113bhp has apparently been in use since Jan 2005, whereas the 98bhp came onto the market in April 2007. I really don't get it. The later (smaller bhp engine) is not an improvement on the earlier one so why bother? Very puzzling ! :D

Difference between 1.6 and 1.8 TDCi ?
monkeyboy replied to monkeyboy's topic in MK2 - Ford Focus 2005 > 2011
Ta Andydajo for your thoughts. Actually, just been looking at an 07/57 Tdci 1.8, so they must still have been knocking em out till fairly recently. -
Difference between 1.6 and 1.8 TDCi ?
monkeyboy replied to monkeyboy's topic in MK2 - Ford Focus 2005 > 2011
Let me clarify. I'm looking at buying a 2007 Mk2 diesel . Not the 2008 facelift. Can't work out whether to go for the 1.6 or 1.8. Also, is there anyway of knowing by looking at the engine, whether the 1.6 is the 110ps or the 88ps version ? -
Hello folks. Done a search, and can't find a substantive answer. Does anyone know whether the 1.8 is a left over from the previous Focus, or a 'new' engine just like the 1.6?

Focus Estate - why so few around?
monkeyboy replied to monkeyboy's topic in MK2 - Ford Focus 2005 > 2011
Recently, i did a search of every Manheim and BCA auction in the country and out of 20,000 cars being sold in that week there were only a couple of Mark 2 Focus estates. Plenty of hatchbacks, plenty of C-max's and plenty of Mark 1.5 estates, but virtually no Mk2's. That week was fairly typical. Just did a UK wide search on Autotrader for cars over £8K 4887 Focus hatchbacks 0589 C-max's 0226 Estates -
I'm a bit puzzled as to why there are so few (MK2) around - either on the roads, at garages, auctions, private ads etc. Really struggled to find one for a friend recently, and now struggling to find one for myself. Seems like they were produced in far fewer numbers than the Mk1-1.5. Maybe because the market for Ford estates is now shared with the C-max?
