  1. The final chapter ? 8skellerns, you were right, I got the car back Saturday and the EGR valve had frozen open. This has now been replaced and the ECU updated. I must admit the car seems more responsive. I will wait to see if the mpg improves from 35 in heavy commuter traffic at an average speed of 17mph. Perhaps I can ask Ford to refund my RAC membership. I hope this is the last post, but I have a feeling there is more trouble to come. Cheers
  2. Now you can all have a good laugh! I took the car to a whizzpopper dealer who has just been given Ford service centre status. I knew that the service would be great from a garage that wanted to launch a new business venture. I was given a Chevrolet Tacuma as a pool car, this was good news. I left my car on Monday morning and was promised it back for Tuesday evening. They phoned me Tuesday to say the engine was flooded with oil which had perished the vacuum hoses. They had to get spare pipes so the car would not be ready until Wednesday. There was no oil leaks found and they concluded some
  3. Hi, thanks all for your help. Robertminchkin seems to be correct, the tubes were under the engine and soft, it was dark and wet and I did not get a good view. The engine warning light is now permanently on. I will post an update after the garage visit tomorrow. Of course the engine soundproofing cover was split before the problem but it is now completely knackered and I have taken it off. Bet I dont get a pool car and I will have a weeks walking to do.
  4. What a pantomime! Very Seasonal This is the first time I have ever been completely let down by a car after 35 years of motoring. I tried to start my C Max 2 litre TDCi after some heavy shopping duties. All I got was a short spluttering and the engine cut out. Try as I might I could not get it to run without cutting out. There was not enough power to move even one metre. What to do, Saturday 5pm and no garages available. I am afraid I joined the RAC and went for a coffee. I called for help, after 30 minutes a helpful RAC man arrived, checked for diesel which was OK, interrogated the engi
  5. HELP! - AM I BEING GASSED? Hi, another 4 months gone, what fun. The air conditioning has stopped working again. It was not working when I took delivery of the car and so I took it back to the original dealer under warranty, it was sorted so they said. It is not working again after 13 months and so I took it to another dealer, they checked it out and regassed the system. The trouble is they say I have a gas leak from behind the dashboard and it will take two days at the garage to sort it out. The gas I am told was leaking into the passenger compartment and the system is now empty. Is the r
  6. Its been six months since my last update. I have written to three auto magazines, a Ford board member and got absolutely nowhere. I have spent days writing and now thrown in the towel. Finally, the decision is, keep the car for three years, do not resurface the drive, NEVER buy another Ford, NEVER recommend a Ford to anyone, NEVER let any member of my family buy a Ford. Its a real shame because, basically its a good car, but shame about the service, shame about the washerbottle design, shame about all the time I have wasted chasing this fault. Customer loyalty and Ford are four lette
  7. The end is nigh! I have just picked up my CMax from the garage where it has been for a whole week. The dealer has finally agreed that there is a leak from the washerbottle. The rate opf leak was was 0.5 litres in one day, but only on driving the car. The decision from the dealer is 'nothing can be done, it is a fault caused by having the car on an incline and the design of the washerbottle, air locks etc' What does Ford say - Customer Service has been in the picture and say that the car is fault free and operating within specifications, they have met their warranty promise. There is no
  8. Hi My C Max 2.0 TDCI is doing 36mpg in city traffic, I have not had a diesel car before and cannot decide whether this is average or low. The book quotes 50mpg average, I have no hope of achieving this mpg. The car is 49 days old and the mpg may improve as it runs in.
  9. I have a suggestion to make, can we start a list, recommending ford dealers for each area in the country. The votes could be counted and the deserving dealers would be rewarded with positive feedback which would attract new customers/business. Obviously the opposite would happen where dealers who were not nominated, would lose out. We could allow/encourage dealers to post any helpful comments I would start with a recommended dealer if I had found one!, I am particularly interested in the West Midlands and the service of my C Max
  10. The saga goes on, now 49 days since delivery and the car is still not fault free. My car has been at the dealer again, they do not seem able to fix the washerbottle leaking. There is a litre of water on the floor in a 24 hour period. This car has been leaking from the washer system since it was delivered to me. Why is it so difficult to stop a leak? Everytime I take it in to the garge I get a long story about vent holes and long spouts. I only want a NEW car without any defects. The car is going in yet again on May 9th, but I do not hold out much hope. I will speak to Ford next week to
  11. My car has been at the dealer for two days, they did give me a pool car while mine was off the road. I picked the car up on Thursday March 24th. There is good news and bad news. Good news - the number plates had been replaced, the air conditioning sorted, the scratches were no longer visible and handbooks were supplied. Bad news - the leaking washer bottle was not available and I was told it was out of stock at Ford and could take two to three weeks to find a replacement. I went ape, after recovering, I explained that I had brought the car in the Saturday before and highlighted the f
  12. Hi I am the not so proud owner of a 05 reg Focus C Max 2.0TDCi Zetec - My list of problems seem small compared to everyone else. On picking up the new car:- I had no manuals, warranty or pre delivery inspection certificate The airconditioning was not working efficiently The paintwork was was scratched on the driver doorsill Both number plates were cracked The washerbottle was leaking, 1/3 pint overnight The boot cover was jammed in and consequently out of alignment The dealer has had the car for two days and fixed all the points but the washer bottle leak. Apparently replacement washerbo
