  1. Another three weeks on and still no sign of the tie rods. The main dealers don't even have the courtesy of keeping me informed.
  2. I've got the very common problem with the creaking front suspension caused by faulty tie rods. I contacted the main dealers in the new year about a warranty fix. I explained what the problem was - having consulted ffoc - and booked me in for a repair a week or so later. When I went down to collect the car I was greeted with the news that they'd had a look at the car and found that there was a problem withe the tie rods. Some news :? And they would now order the parts. I blew my top. How was it that I had been able to diagnose a COMMON problem but they had been unable to do so with
  3. Has anyone else found the windows, on their Focus, misting rather more readily than other cars? I seeem to spend an inordinate amount of time fiddling with the screen heaters, A/C etc just to be able to see out. Cheers, Nick
  4. The damned thing looks and feels so flimsy I have left it well alone.
  5. The manufacturers are skimping on the galvanisation and waxing in order to cut costs by reducing production time; combined with air pollution and warmer, moister atmospherics in the cities the end result is rust.
  6. Hoorah for Uncle Henry giving the temp in Fahrenheit! I hate listening to the weather forecast and then having to convert from degrees Centigrade/Celsius to work out if it really is going to be a scorcher. 8) That said I've noticed that the TV and radio weathermen (and women) are actually using Fahrenheit rather more these days. And before anyone writes in to say that the F scale is illogical - in fact it is supremely so, once you understand the thinking behind it. Cheers, Nick
  7. So why does the LHD version of the Focus also have the handbrake on the left. We've been given a hand me down design rather than something best suited for RHD; shame on Ford.
  8. It really does baffle me as to why Uncle Henry should offer electric folding mirrors on the continent but not here in the UK. In today's cramped parking environment they are an absolute boon. Cheers, Nick
  9. I've got the Ghia model and it certainly has approach lights. Just switch the lights off and then pull the headlamp flasher towards you; the headlights come on and stay on for 30 seconds. Cheers, Nick
  10. Its a bit of a tight fit getting the new Focus into my garage. At the moment I fold the mirrors back manually for that extra couple of inches but I'm not too sure how they will stand-up to this being done day in day out. I'd like to fit electric folding mirrors and wondered if anyone knows if this is possible. Cheers, Nick
  11. Popped down to the local main dealer. Excess lacquer - they will sort it out. Cheers, Nick
  12. All input gratefully received. The local Main Dealer will be inspecting the car on Monday. Cheers, Nick
  13. I hope that is the case and it can be fixed quickly and easily because the Focus is an excellent vehicle. It's just that I was once caught out by a Ford main dealer who sold me a 6 month old car that had had a resprayed front door. He didn't tell me at the time and I ended-up having to have it re-done (courtesy of Uncle Henry)but the re-sprayed door was never as good as the original. Cheers, Nick
  14. It's a Spanish-built car sourced via Motorpoint in Derby. I've already spoken to their customer services department and informed them of my intention to take full advantage of my legal rights, under the Sale of Goods Act, to reject the car because it is not of satisfactory quality, and to ask for a full refund. Cheers, Nick (Yes I will buy another Focus 8) )
