Thanks guys. Stupid idea really, cos a car that is doing 20mpg around town does not need A/C on when it is a zetec and has a heated windscreen! There's going to be no way for me to fix this I think, unless I leave the blower at blow and not windscreen.

Hi; If I turn the A/C off in the car, the next time I start it, it is back on again. How can I turn get this switch to do the opposite, ie: keep the A/C off until I want it on. Thanks.

Is there anyway to get that sensor out without taking off the throttle body? There is only one normal torx holding it in, so i guess I have to twist it to separate the plastic edges, but the throttlr body is in the way. Thanks again.

It would be appreciated because the mpg problem is driving me crazy. Anything that could cause poor mpg other than driving style, short trips. etc. I mean anything in the engine that would cause poor mpg that does not show up in the diags. Thanks.

I have posted here a while back about the mpg of the 1.6 petrol c-max. Local Ford garage says I have to fill up twice, recording the mileage each time. I know I am getting a lot less then 300 per tank. The computer is down at about 20mpg at the moment. I know these are short trips but it should be better than that. Anyway, at the same time there seems to be no real acceleration below 300rpm. I could put the foot down in a higher gear and notheing much would happen until I hit the 3K mark, and then it would go like S*it off a stick. I got the ECU reset, but it has made no diff. This is awful mpg. Car did MOT and passed for emissions, really low they were. I wonder would my 5 star AA warranty cover me for investigations nto this?

I sure hope this isn't the way this car is going to be! I started the car this morning and there was a clicking sound this morning first thing(it was cold outside) which increased as I increased the revs, but which went away after a while. Then tonight, outside our local Halfords, I started the car and heard a belt squealing, saw the revs dropping, but that went away also after a few seconds. Has anyone heard of these faults on a 1.6 petrol 2005 c-max engine? Thanks.

I phoned the garage that did the work on the c-max over the last 4 years. Apparently it has had a steering pump pipe replace, the recall for the rear wiper and another recall for a bonnet catch. I know about the rear wiper, but not about bonnet catch. Has anyone any info on the bonnet catch recall? Thanks.

Thanks for the info. Garage wants between 50 - 80 pounds to put car on diags and download new firmware if it takes it. Car is 1.6l petrol.

Subject says it all. Is anyone getting any better than this, and if the standard things have been done like filters changd, and my driving style is not pedal to the metal all the time, what else can I do? Thanks.
