  1. No mine did but only as I got used to driving the diesel. Not anymore.. it feels quite nippy off the lights (not as nippy as a petrol but quick enough)
  2. Can't say I have noticed one..the initial lack I had was I think down to me getting used to driving a tdci over our petrol focus. Now I have done 12000 odd miles I do not notice a lack at all when driving.
  3. Well had my first service.. both front tyres worn out on the edges (guess the tracking was squiffed) .4m and 1.4m. But the real bugbear was that one of the contis was only 5 months old and had only done 6k. So both chenged over to Goodyear exellence (running 205/50/R17) and my god they are so quiet... I seem to get less cabin noise.. just hope they wear better. (oh and the grip round corners is good too.) Still gutted to have replace 3 tyres in the first 9 months though.
  4. Right well the its time to get it serviced what sort of damage should I be looking at for the first one ? Probably going to go indepedent as I can see no benefit in going to Ford (except to get them to do the paint check for the corrosion warranty ho ho)
  5. £153 a pair ???? Was that for the 16 inch versions ? I was looking for 205/50/17 and they came out at £184 each on backcircles.com
  6. Help.... Tonight I took out one of theheadlamps to flip the switch... First off I could not get the power cable off... but the rest was ok.. found what looked like the switch.. went to move it down and it fell off its mounts. It does not look like the lever above.. this is a pirce of metal held in place by a rubber bung.. hence I've gone to move it and its popped out.. now what do I do ? I presume not having it at all is not a problem... but can you use the stick on deflectors with xenons ok ? How I wish they had just put a switch in the car that did not need you to dismantle the lig
  7. I have noticed that as I add mileage (coming upto 9000) that it seems to becoming quicker off the line. I hardly ever now get caught with the lag of power when I pull away. Another possibility though is that I am now used to driving a diesel and so have changed the way I drive to compensate.
  8. I had wondered about that... but I thought the rear wiper came on regardless... when you went in reverse.. I am looking for a bike rack... it looks like for a roof mounted solution it could cost £300~ by the time the bars and bike holders are bought. Anyone know how much the internal bike rack for the cmax is ?
  9. Wow... that means I am getting 50mpg all the time :) Actually for the latest tank full (the cars hit 8500 miles) it was hitting 530 miles on a tank....
  10. Hmm Have to say I have never used the mode button.. I usually just press the phone button on the radio to terminate the call.
  11. I have my first service coming up... now I was going to take it to my local Independent.. but I presume I would miss out of any updates to the computer management etc etc. If this something I can pop into ford to have done if needed.. and not just part of a service ? Is there any way to find out which version I have and whether theres any worthwhile updates ? Cheers Matt
  12. The Cat 1 interior alarm was a option (you would have a little dome on the from of the dash).. I had it added to the focus. The standard aalrm just goes off if the bonnet is opened when locked. The wind noise seems to be the norm.. I hear it once I go above 50.. though the amount of wind makes a difference as well. I think its down to the shape of the car and how the wind goes over the door seals (i.e its not leaking air... just whistling).
  13. I went from a 2.0L focus to the 1.6 (90 bhp) Diesel Cmax for the same sort of reasons. 2 Kids and holidays in france.... Love the extra space and do not miss anything about the 2L except for off the line speed. So personally I would not discount the 1.6, take it for a test drive :)
  14. Our Sept 06 1.6 TDCI cmax has been faultless... done about 7500 since and never put a foot wrong, never went into limp mode.. and other than higher noise from the doors above 50 I cannot think of anything to say about it. The engine seems to be loosening up nicely now and seems nippier than ever.
