sounds like what happened to my dads passat.. the locking mechanism died :( it 'should' still be covered by ford i would imagine.. so get it down there for them to look at :)

i just dumped about 1l of concentrate fluid in and waited for it to try and defrost it all, it will have happened to loads of people in all cars. when it warms a bit or after a long journey it should fix up :) its about 1.50 from tesco for 1l of concentrate :) dont put any water in with it
