  1. I have used the castrol 5/30 magnatec oil badged as suitible for new ford engines. My local ford dealer also uses this oil when servicing apparently. Not sure if it is fully synthetic or semi synthetic. The local dealer did not recommend using fully synthetic as there had been previous problems with sticking valves on the duratec engine using fully synthetic oils. Having read a previous thread on 100ps v 115 ps engines and the attached detail on the development of the 115ps engine I would be very wary of changing from the recommended lubricant. It has electronic thermostat and integrated water

  3. Same thing happened to my Zetec. My local dealer is to fit a new one under warrenty as the lugs were broken at the back. ( unfortunately the first part to arrive was the wrong colour bliss and Joy) Note apparently the trim is only covered for the first year
  4. Had a squeaky rear seat fixed it by wrapping a couple of turns of electrical insulation tape around the retaining eye
  5. Make sure the Air direction control is not set for the windscreen else the air con automatically comes on
  6. I notice earlier discussions regards obtaining an instantaneous fuel consumption reading. I too own an 05 plate 1.6 tivct zetec climate without this option ( neither does it refer to this in the owners manual) however today I have a hire car an o5 plate 1.6 LX I decided to read thro the owners manual and suprise there is an otion to select Instant consumption on the trip computer. However cannot prove this as its only an LX and isnt fitted with the trip computer. Does anyone with a newer car now have this option? Is it reprogrammable by the Dealer?
  7. Hi All Just joined having bought a zetec 1.6 ti-vct focus after 8 years with a vectra. Unfortunatley not a good start. Coolant hose punctured on delivery then main dealer managed to put two nice scratches in the wing when attempting repair. Now to the question does any one know if it is possible to buy the volume sensors ( they are incorporated into the interior light) and fit them to the Zetec to enable the interior volume sensing alarm. It cant be too much as the option price is only £85 +vat. I am aware there is an overide switch provided on the drivers door however as I will not be leaving
