  1. Had this last week, if its the same, the wire has kinked and fallen off the back of the heater setting dial. £10 for the wire from Fraud and loads of scratches on your arms replacing it!
  2. There is a how to on how to change the rubber in the aerowipers - i think it cost about £8 in total - otherwise you can get full wipers from tesco for £6 each if you are on a budget
  3. adam_young, it's the width thats different, the rolling radius would still be the 50 - as per what was originally on the car (zetec wheels on the sport pack) whats changed is the 215 width that was originally 205
  4. We found that at the weekend - however the 17" zetec wheels will take a 215/50/R17 tyre so thats what we've had fitted and I have 100% confidence with the Vredesteins in the wet
  5. Change of plan for us - we've managed to find the Ultracs now for £109 a corner fitted so we are having those now
  6. Funny enough - since I can't find the vredesteins we are now going for the nct5's as they've been good in the past on other cars.
  7. I've been looking at the Vredistein Ultras (not the fancy ones as i can't find them in the fittment locally). Someone else on these boards is looking at the same. I think they are about £115 a corner for the 17" wheel and the reviews rate them highly. Then saying that the reviews also rate the Nexen N3000 highly as a good all round tyre to suit budget, noise and handling They are only £60 a corner fitted
  8. I would always use the drain plug where i can - you have a better chance of getting most if not all the oil out - using a vacuum pump will always leave some behind
  9. EddieCorstin, When you start the car, press the menu button before moving, it comes up or you may have to go through the option but its under the settings main menu.
  10. However the pulley will be spinning but the pump won't be - theres no need to take the belt off, it's not as if the aircon runs all the time is it. The magneto clutch on the pulley is basically a mechanism that throws the pulley into gear driving the pump, all the time the aircon is switched off the pump won't be running - besides i think they have a fail safe on them that means the pump won't run if there is no pressure inside the system - some might notice that the aircon cuts in and out when it need re gassing. My advice - leave the belt on, the pump wont be running so long as you don't h
  11. Isn't it a magneto clutch for the air con? The pump wont be running if the air con is turned off - it's only when you turn the aircon on the clutch engages and drives the pump.
  12. No but i really advise you to remove your avatar if you want to remain on these boards.
  13. Hazard a guess if he has made it into the settings menu he would have found out how to change the steering setup too
  14. I can't remember off the top of my head but i'm pretty sure the power steering is electrohydraulic so it can determine how much the pump works to make the steering feel heavier or lighter - the difference between comfort and sport is quite noticable.
  15. Makes the steering feel light or heavier
  16. revoltos, Odd - anyway i did find your post in the lighting section but it was a new post stating the size - anyway not to worry i've ordered the new LED's to fit on the car and while I was at it bought some wiper blade refills - see if they work or not!
  17. ScottyGhia, You'll have to look to find out  They are 38 or 39mm and would be listed as a 239 or a 272
  18. Looking at the replies you received on the same question - I was probably right putting the question in here  Anyway i've finally found your answer so i've ordered the LED festoon bulbs now - the wife doesn't know i'm starting on modding her car
  19. I'd put this in electricals and lighting but it will only cause confusion  Can someone confirm that the Reg plate lights for the mk2 are 272 or 239, i think they should be 39mm long? I'd go and get the handbook but its pouring down outside and the car is on the driveway at the back of the house. TIA Lee 8)
  20. I've seen these on a mk1 years ago - they were certainly original although i think the owner had some problems with them later in life
  21. markm, I've fitted them this afternoon and yes you are right it's a bit of a tight squeeze to get the torques fitting down the gap but you can do it if you have one fitted to the end of a universal joint on a socket set, thats assuming you have cloth seats - it would appear that if you have leather seats they need to be cut to fit them (the two bracket covers that are in the kit are for the leather seat conversion by the looks of things) Oh and I would not bother trying to pull the rubber grommets out - you are by far best pushing them down the hole with the end of a screwdriver - thats save
  22. Will do - I've also asked Tezza to take a look into this for us too, hopefully he can shed some light on it
  23. It'll be saturday now before i get a chance to look (it's dark when i go to work and it's dark wehn i come home and Nicky works 60 miles away from me!) Can you access the bolt holes from the back if you lift the carpet out or do the bars fit to the lifting part of the seat?
  24. markm, I've still yet to fit the bars in our mk2 - I was only just saying that i need to get the corret torque fitting for it sometime this week. I can't imagine it being a difficult job, can you not just tilt the seat forward or something?
