Tamworth, Staffs. UK - 2007 Mk2 1.8 Zetec Climate Estate.
  1. Just got back from a few days on Anglesey using a mix of roads and speeds, sometimes 70mph +. On the way it clocked 42mpg and 38 on the way back, which included some pottering about while up there. Quite respectable seeing as petrol is around 5 to 7 pence a litre cheaper than diesel!
  2. My 1.8 Zetec Climate Estate Mk2 = Around town, very short runs 26mpg, long runs 42mpg = Much better than my previous car, a Land Rover Discovery diesel. It's more comfy and goes better too!
  3. Also: let it idle for about the same amount of time when you start it. This idling gets the oil pressure up at start up and will get oil into the trubo before you rev it and allow the turbo to stop spinning at idle before turning the engine off. This is very important, as "zetecste" says. This engine is quite underpowered and the turbo does work overtime so it must be treated with respect otherwise it will cost money and time to fix. Good luck with your car.
  4. Maybe the air-con needs re-gassing?
  5. It would be cheaper to get a roll of that anti-slip matting stuff from Wilkinsons and cut it to shape. But then I'm just a old skinflint! :D
  6. I have but they seem quite a way away from me. I was hoping to find one closer. Cheers.
  7. Are there any regular pub meets in the Midlands area? I'm in Tamworth, Staffs.
