  1. Parked the car up for an hour at Sainsbury's in Chiswick today and came back to find the colour coded surround for the passenger wing mirror had been swipped. I can see where the guy ried to prize it out with a screwdriver, but when that hadn't worked he pulled the glass out and just rammed the screwdriver in to pop out the metallic silver surround. Pikey b*****d! The good news is that the motor seems to be working fine on the electric adjustment (it's not electric folding by the way and as it's an 05 plate it also doesn't have the indicator in it) but the glass is half popped out. I'v
  2. Shame it's a * * * * looking car! Cannot believe this is 5 door only, and that front grill is shocking. And don't even get me started on the rear light cluster on the Mk3!!
  3. I've been wondering what that was for 18 months!!!
  4. Sorry to hijack the thread but I also have a related question. My AC isn't as cool as it could be after 6 years so I figured it could be due a re-gas. It's also very noisy; sounds like a motor of some kind, but the AC is working, just not that cold and pretty loud!! I live in Middlesex and found these guys who do a re-gas and a service for £83 including the VAT: http://www.autoaircon.net/ I could go the Kwik Fit route for cheaper but that's just the re-gas, so for the extra few quid the service might be a good value option for me. I'm also keeping it in my head that the unit might j
  5. I have just booked in my 2005 Focus 2.0 petrol for a major service at Ford at 55,000 miles (so nicely below the average mileage for the age). Aside from the standard work that gets done as part of these services, I was wondering if anyone had any advise about extra stuff I should consider asking them to do that might not be part of the standard service schedule. The main reason I ask is that sometimes in the mornings when the car is cold I find first and second gear are a little sticky and difficult to get in. Once the car has been running for 5 minutes and things have warmed up it's abso
  6. Well I just had a surprise! I called my local inde mechanic for a major service quote and they gave me a figure of £170 all in. I couldn't believe how cheap that was! Then, for * * * * and giggles, I called my local Ford dealer (SMC) for a quote from them. To my utter amazement they quoted me £165 all in for a major service, and if I get my MOT done there (£30) they'll give me a years free roadside assistance. I just can't believe that. All I can think is that given how tight everyone has been the last couple of years that many people have turned to inde garages for their work, and t
  7. Hi I'm looking for a little advice on servicing my 2005 2.0 Ghia. So far it has had 5 services, the last two were: 4th service - 33,732 - 20/06/2010 - minor 5th service - 46,783 - 05/07/2011 - minor According to the service portfolio the 6th service would be major. However the service portfolio also assumes that the 6th service would be at 75,000 miles, whereas mine has only done 55,400. I suppose here is where we would assume that a major service isn't just to do with mileage covered, it's to do with age, on the basis certain components will have a shelf life of under 6
  8. I'm not feeling it at all. I can't believe they've ditched the iconic vertical rear lights that all Foci have had to date and replaced it with the back end of a Toyota Corolla generi-hatchback. The front end is OK but could look better, but the whole design isn't as bold as the previous 2. I like the instrument cluster but the centre console is woeful - I don't know what they were thinking with those vertical air vents. What I'm amazed at here is that Ford have had the best looking hatchbacks since the Focus Mk1 was launched, and their latest offering has no real presence on the road at a
  9. That'll look like a council house at Christmas with those LEDs. It's like back in the day Lexus lights - everyone jumps on the bandwagon and then they end up looking cheap. I wouldn't bother.
