  1. I have seen down here a self adhesive type material that is about 3-4mm thick that you cut out to shape of the light and then stick onto the fog light (the exterior). It is clear and if you get a good sharp blade and have a steady hand you can get good finish. You can't tell that there is anything on the lense so it looks "factory". I have used this product (I can't recall the name off hand but I have the packaging at home) on my old WRX and it worked a treat. I had a fairly large stone hit a light and it damaged the covering so I just took it off and replaced it. I'lll dig out the name and
  2. I was up until my first service, each fill of petro my head was under the bonnet checking the dipstick. After the service I was told all was well and I should drive it like normal. At what point do you stop check the oil daily weekly? In all my cars (and I have over 12 of them and 6 of them brand new) I have never had this sort of issue/usage.
  3. Hey all, Well it was an interesting (read bl@@dy annoying) end to a long weekend down under. The wife and I jumped into our 6 month old Focus to head out for the day, I crank the engine and it is hard to start, it finally fires but it sounds like an old cold diesel on a cold winter morning. The alarm bells go off in my head and I jump out and lift the bonnet. The wife scoots over the drivers seat and cranks it again while I am poking under the bonnet, same result. The car was then quickly shut off and a call made to road side assist. 30 minutes later and some poking around the tech declares th
  4. Happens on mine also, also did it on my old Mk1 focus too. Just an "undocumented feature" methinks. Cheers Steve
  5. I know not an answer to your question, but how come your trading in so soon? Cheers Steve
  6. Ok time for an update on my creaking door / rubber issue. Well the lithium grease did work but only for a day or so. So the car went back into the dealership to have its rubbers replaced (hooray!). I drove out happy, I had a quiet creak free focus. Well I did until this morning, the creaking has returned! This is getting beyond a joke. What to do?
  7. Hi Folks, Well I have just come back from the dealership for the 6th time. Apparantly the "solution" if you call it that, is lithium grease on the rubbers. To me this still seems like a band aid fix. In terms of the panel alignment I have been told that it is within factory specs / tolerances! To me this is unacceptable, I would expect this to be the case with Eastern European bloc built Lada's of the early 1980's but not a modern German engineered vehicle. Can I ask a favour, would you mind checking your door panels, ie do the front and rear panels sit flush with one another? With mine if I
  8. Just an update for you all (or those interested) I got my car back from the dealership after they had it for a week. They said they had fixed the several minor issues I had and sorted the creaking windows. Great I thought! I drove out the dealership and my silent Focus was back creak free! Well until the next morning, it was back! So back on the phone venting my displeasure and annoyance for the waste of time. In anticipation of the dealer coming to visit me today to road test my vehicle to hear what I hear I checked the car last night. Upon close inspection I find that 3 out of my 4 doors
  9. I am the jinx at our place, as soon as I get out there to wash the cars and within 15 minutes of finishing its raining. Perhaps its just the cr@ppy Auckland weather; 4 seasons in one day. Steve
  10. Well my dealer called me yesterday, they've had my car now for a week. I was told they are still working my creaking doors, (i interpret this as they haven't worked out how to yet). However they did sort out my door alignment issue, but now they say the car has excessive wind noise so its back to the drawing board! The saga continues.
  11. Folks This may have been posted before, but i thought I'd share anyway. Below is a link on the Duratec HE, the heart of our new Foci's Enjoy! Cheers Steve http://home.att.net/~biker16/Duratec_HE.html
  12. GhiaTiVCT, It does work in the short term, but where I am getting steamed is that we as consumers shouldn't have to band aid fix this issue. Perhaps I am being over demanding on Ford but now I have this issue "between my teeth" I am not letting go. Hopefully I will have my car back this week. I'll keep you all posted on the outcome. As a side issue I have been given a 5dr Fiesta as the loan car. It only has 750km's on the clock and is an auto but it is great! NZ'ers aren't big buyers of small cars but I am really impressed with this little car. It goes like a go-kart and sips ever so gently
  13. Well I dropped my 5dr Zetec into my dealer on Monday (for the 4th time in as many months). They are still scratching their heads as to the fix. Like you said smjohns, I suggested to the dealer it was chassis flex causing the creak and I was told in a patronising tone, "I don't think so". As I understand it, our South African built foci (that we get down here) have a differect door set up so the rubber seal swap discussed on the here on the board won't work. My creaking has got worse too, it used to be only the front passenger window that used to do it, now it is all 4! If I don't get this
  14. According to my dealer here in NZ (who claim they spoke to Ford UK), say that they are not aware of any window creaking issues. The fix that was offered to me was to polish the interior portion of the chassis that comes in contact with the door. A band aid fix for 3 weeks, now the creaking is back. I am going to bypass the dealer now and go straight to Ford NZ  Cheers Steve Auckland NZ
  15. Mate if I were you I'd take it back to my dealer. If you start fiddling around with it your likely to void your warranty if anything goes wrong, eg you get a leak and damage the electrics. Just my 2 cents though. Cheers Steve NZ
