Perhaps he finds them nicer to look at or more comfortable? I'm sure you could make your own mounts to make them fit and adapt the looms for the heated seats and height switch

I can't help with the noise but on the subject of the 3 year service it could be due to mileage. Services are usually listed as X Years/Y Mileage, whichever is sooner. For example, my car is 9 years old but only 94,000 miles. The 9 year service for my car is listed as 9 years/112,500 miles. If I were to service it according to the mileage I would end up doing a 7 year/87,500 miles service and some things would be missed out. Some items need replacing due to age and some need replacing though use (miles driven).
