  1. Hi, Ellaziggy how old is your new max ? I have just taken delivery of a new one last week after my old max CVT brokedown a grand total of 9 times in a year ! It had nothing but electical problems and wiring shorts. After it brokedown again a couple of days before christmas, that was the final straw. I had the flatspot, the not pulling away and then when it did finaly decide to move it shot off so fast it was madness. When it went back to the dealership they could not believe the amount of fault codes and that it had yet another wiring issue between the gearbox and engine. It ended its days wi
  2. I am sorry but, since it tells me on my screen I am in seventh gear when using the manual gears, I assumed I had seven gears.
  3. Hi, Not sure, maybe its because I can also use it as a manual.
  4. Hi, its a Constantly Variable Automatic Transmission with seven gears.
  5. Hi, been some time since I last posted, but lots have been still going on with my max. I feel its the end of the road for both of us  she has been in and out of the dealers ever month with the same problems and more, I cannot continue with this after 10 months of breakdowns and more and more problems, so I am trying to decide on another, as I like it so much (strange as it sounds) I would like exactly the same, diesel 1.6 zetec CVT but, I understand that changes have been made since they stopped making them last year and they have now reintroduced them this year. Has anyone out there an
  6. Now then boys !! must be our excellent match on saturday making you all hot and bothered  Nice to read some friendly banter at last :)
  7. Hi... Just thought I would let you know that Ford are obviously taking our problems seriously. I have just received an invitaion to take my Max to the Dunton Engieering Centre, apparently this is so they can better understand the problems I am having, so that they can be resolved for future models ! The letter says that I have received this invite due to the quality questionare I completed, and had highlighted a dissatisfaction with the drivability of the vehicle, rightly so since its broken down 6 times. I can see this will be a long afternoon at Dunton next month
  8. Hi... If its petrol I dont think its a CVT auto like the diesel. I am sure its a 4 speed box not a 7 speed, but do check this. I was told it will average no more than 34mpg, when It was suggested that my diesel CVT be committed, and maybe I would like to replace it with a petrol.
  9. It makes no difference what dealership you got your Max from, its Ford that pay for the hire car, not the dealership. I have now had to take my car to another dealers as where I got mine, they had it for over two weeks and told me nothing was wrong, Ford customer relations told me to take it to another dealership and they found a problem straight away! Do keep on to the customer relations as they can be quite helpfull, they are still keeping regular contact with me to check that mines still ok, even though it keeps flashing strange messages at me on start up :?
  10. Is there anyway of pressing any buttons to try and read or see if it has a fault code or am I going to have to take it back yet again
  11. Hi Sinky... sorry to hear about your Max :( Do keep calling the customer relations as I got a hire car from Ford for a month when my car went wrong over christmas, and again for two weeks about a month ago. You need to demand that this really is not good enough, or ask them to meet your travel costs while you have no car. They offered to pay for a cab for me to collect my car a couple of weeks ago  also have you tried talking to the service manager, as he/she can arrange a hire car with Ford, tell them your not interested with there 7 day rubbish, I did'nt wait 7 days.
  12. Hi....I have now got my Max back after it having to go in again after the relay ! It seems much better now, the turbo waste gate has been turned 1 turn, and is now pulling away with hardly any delay at all :) I have now noticed that a message flashes up saying something is in PROGRESS, this happens when I first start it, and will come up again a few hours later when its been switched of for a while :? not sure what the something is, as I have only managed to catch the last bit of the message ! Any ideas
  13. Well the RAC are relaying my car back to the garage tomorrow. They have told me not to use my car if this warning message shows with a loss of power, so no car yet again! Thanks for your reply sinky, but mine seems to do this when its warmed up, it seems ok when cold. I was without my car all over christmas and did'nt see it again until well into january, its now broken down 6 times in 5 months, not bad for a 5 month old car thats only done 2,500 miles  :brickwall
  14. not sure, all it says on paperwork is shorten turbo acuator rod by 2 whole turns, ok on roadtest. Should I call RAC to relay to garage, as its about 20 miles, is it likely to damage car or break down ?
  15. Hi again! Picked up my car after having the turbo ajusted, and it pulled away fine for the first 20 miles, then when pulling away, when it gets to about 2000revs it stutters and feels like you have taken your foot off the acceletator and put it back on again. The engine system fault came on after it had done this a few times and it would not go over 30 for a few seconds, so I pulled over and switched off the car, restarted and the message went, but it is still doing the same, also a message ficked up when I switched it on later, saying something to do with the management, but quickly went out
