  1. Went to the other dealer on Thursday, they have confirmed a problem and removed compressor to fit a new unit. Unfortunately they had the wrong unit sent and have had to order another, not due until Monday. This will be fitted on Thursday, got car back now after they re-assembled it, but the AC does not work - I suspect they have not re-gassed it as it is going to be de-gassed again on Thursday. So no aircon and no noise either.
  2. Apparently the fault could be due to too much gas or too little and that the first course of action is for me to pay for a Air conditioning service at £85 which they are happy to do. I declined their kind offer.
  3. I have a problem with a noisy airconditioning compressor on my 1.6tdci that I asked the dealer to look at when my car went in for its MOT. They confirmed it is noisy but said that they need to get it in to confirm the fault. Problem my car was first registered on the 20th September 04, so I thought the warrany would be running out on the 19th September 07 but on the dealer's system is say the warrany expires on the 17th September (even though it was registered on the 20th Sept). The first date I can get the car booked in is 20th September, I asked the dealer if that would be a problem with th
  4. The other day I bought 2 Conti Premium Contact 2s for the front to go with the other 2 I bought 2 months ago to replace the Sport Contacts 2s I had before. So far ok, but not tried them in the wet and wintery weather yet. I was pleasantly surprised that I got 2 for £115, the last pair I got from the same place were £129 the pair. I though the cost of tyres were going up?
  5. I hear a whining noise when accelerating through the gears with the AC on, again Ford say theres nothing wrong. Well I have it booked in on Friday at one Ford dealer for them to look at and another convenient on on Monday, just in case. Maybe one will find a problem. If not at least I will have it reported incase it fails out of warranty and I can point back to the fault being present before its expiry - another battle with Fraud "Customer (could not) care (less)" I expect.
  6. My 1.6TDCI makes a whining noise related to engine speed when the aircon is switched on - particularly nticeable when decelerating on a closed throttle, has anyone else experienced this as my car has a week until the warranty expires and the Fraud dealer said there is nothing wrong with it.
  7. I had my first set of Conti Sport Contact2 on the front of my 1.6tdci at 17K and the second set on Friday at 32K. The rear still have some life, but strangely the Near (passenger) side tyres on both front and rear are worn more than offside. They are not unevenly work either - most odd never seen that before. I have put the old rears on the front to get them worn out and put a pair of Premium Contact2s on the rear as they seem a well rated tyre. They cost £129 fitted the pair (205/55V16) from my usual tyre place - considerably cheaper than most other places I tried and recommened
  8. About a month ago I noticed that the paint on the top of my rear bumper of my September 04 (54) C-Max in Tonic had started to craze. At first I though someone must have bumped it in a car park or something like that but having checked the rest of the bumper there is no sign of impact. Yesterday I noticed that the paint has started to come away from the bumper leaving the white plastic showing, only an area the size of you finger nail fior now but the rest of the paint seems to be lifting. Has anyone one else had a similar problem? What do you think the chance of it being covered by the Ford Pa
  9. I had a lot of black smoke on my 1.6TDCi for a while on hard acceleration, took it too the dealer and it was a cracked "Turbo Input Pipe" whatever that might be. Was replaced under warranty and no smoke since.

  11. It is ALWAYS worth contacting Ford Customer Releations if you have a part fail even if you are out of warrany, consumer law is very strong these days and Ford know it. If it is one of the common issues that are reported on here Ford will be aware an concious of some of the marginal components fitted to their products. If your vehicle has not done a lot of miles and was regularly serviced it is worth a call or two they tend to refuse on principal but persistance can pay off.

  13. I had same battery problem, I had to badger Ford Customer relationship centre contantly and got fobbed off, eventually Dealer phned them and got them to pay up. Battery ony cost me £60 and the dealer had only charged £19 fitting so how they manage to get to get to £171 I will never know.

  15. I pursued Ford Customer Dis-Service having paid for a new battery on my 54 1.6TDCI last November at 26 months old after battery failure due to Voltage Set Point fix not been carried out at 2nd Service. They carried on claiming it was not covered by warrantly but after quoting the Sale Of Good Act and intevention by the dealer who fixed it I eventually got the cost of the battery refunded. So fat Max is going fine and fuel consumption is actually increasing now at 45mpg on commute.
