  1. Bob, The code isn't actually fixed.... It rolls each time the button is pressed. But the values are stored in NVM so battery disconnection is not an issue. The only ones that used to forget were the 2 button ones as used on Mondeo when it first came out.
  2. The key should not need reprogramming. I suspect that the battery may not be making good contact.
  3. No problem. What happens is that the "go" messages between the cluster and the engine ECU get confused by a stall and quick restart as both the devices do not have time to reset. There is no danger of the vehicle not starting under these conditions. The lamp is just an annoyance until you restart. All vehicle functions are available.
  4. See the other posts on this. It's the imob LED. Flashing slowly with key off is normal. It might flash if you start the key too quickly. By this I mean if you wang the key from off to start very quickly or you restart after stalling it then the cluster and engine ECU don't have time to reset and the lamp flashes.
  5. I think this thread should be locked now as the facts have been stated and the comments are now getting a little repetative.
  6. Sit next to her and observe the way she starts it.. See the other post in the Focsu II section.
  7. It can happen if you stall the car and immediately restart it. This is because the instrument cluster does not have time to reset and wake up normally when you key off and then on again quickly. Not a problem, and nothing that you should worry about. If the flashing annoys you simply turn off the ignition and restart as normal after a couple of seconds.
  8. Using WDS it is possible to disable the tailgate release when the ignition is on. Or use the easy option. Lock the doors yourself!!
  9. Normally yes but the headlamps are controlled by the electronic fuse box or PJB as it's known. The relays that switch the headlamps are driven by this and it's a brief software reset due to the cranking voltage drop that causes it.
  10. It's not uncommon for the lamps to switch off briefly during cranking. Especially during cold weather. This is normal and not a problem provided they come back on!!
  11. Der..... That's because it's no longer on WDS!!
  12. You are all missing the point. As said earlier it's down to how the vehicle was homolgated. This feature did not form part of the homolgation tests therefore it cannot be enabled by the dealer. If the US homolgation tests included this feature then there is no reason for it not being enabled in the US. The comments re remaining battery power to unlock the doors will apply to most manufacturers, not just Ford, when the battey is placed in the engine compartment. Also I wonder how the other makes with a CAN bus sytem for locking would fare in an accident where the network bus got shorted out
  13. Martin you are wrong in your assumption. Please read my previous comments as to why it was disabled. This is fact.
  14. dandjl You are wrong. Please don't spout off about there being PROBLEMS without knowing all the facts. See my post. That is why the feature is not allowed to be enabled. The vehicle does not have a problem. It's more legislation. In a heavy front impact the battery (power source) could be destroyed quicker than the doors can be unlocked by the electronics. Unlike the airbag system the locking circuit does not have back up power.
  15. No, but the crash testing critera are that it must be possible for a person to gain access to the vehicle from the outside after a low speed impact. Ie open the door. If the vehicle auto locks then this test fails.
  16. I've got it enabled on my car Nick as you remember but we do live in an ever increasing "No Win No Fee" type of environment. The dealers can't take the chance. I agree with your comments.
  17. Sorry chaps I took it off of WDS for both Focus II and CMax. Not my choice but i did understand the reasons. As for loading the previous software. That takes a long time. Are you prepared to pay the dealer for doing this?
  18. Chris and I managed to sort this one out. Just a short note to those who will play that you can get into trouble by pressing buttons!!
  19. Possibly not as the locking system is different on vehicles with door modules. The door modules drive the locking motors on high spec vehicles and this leads to a different software configuration in the PJB control module.
  20. Totally different system on vehicle with one touch Uo & Down. BTW the door modules are integrated with the window motor assemblies
  21. Using original components would be the same as 5 door.
  22. Put this in the other post but i'll repeat it here...........> Nothing is impossible but you'll have a lot more work to do it on the Focus II. When you have 4 power windows on these vehicle you will have an electronic door module in each door. This also takes over control of the locking functions from the PJB module. You'll have to get this module re configured. Unless you have a suitable donor vehicle then this is probably not a DIY job. Isn't that what the kids are for, or do they only open them?
  23. Doubt it's the cluster. Have a quick check of fuse 26 in the passenger compartment fuse box. The later service clusters have an internal modification similar to the voltage buffer module.
  24. You'll need to buy another pair and then pull the raidio out. Once out you can then push on the spring clip and remove the key! Take care as the springs on the radio are not the most robust of items and will sometimes get into a postion where it will prevent the radio being removed. Then you're in trouble!!
