  1. Got to be careful how I answer...... As for the film, i've never stopped anyone for that yet. But I have been told that if you hold a piece of white paper with writing on it behind the glass it should be clearly readable. I would have thought that without the use of a light meter a cleaver lawyer could get you off the charge. Number plates. If a car is stopped for these then a marker can be put on the system. Eventually the plates could be confiscated and the vehicle would then have to be Q plated. Tink of the insurance hike. But to be honest is it really worth the effort? Can't speak fo
  2. Erm.. Yes I do have many tallents. To pull someone over in a car they have to have committed a moving traffic offence. Unless there is a special power issued of course. Ever wondered why the first thing the copper normally says is something like "Hello sonny. About the way you were driving..." And yes to breathalise you would really require reasonable suspicion. But how do you quantify this? Time of day, driving manner, smell (breath :) ) etc. The being stopped is just the first thing. Probably better not to draw attention to yourself in the first place. Fog lamps are designed
  3. I like people driving with their fog lamps on in good conditions. It gives me a reason to pull them over and breathalyse them!! If this fails then a £30 Non Endorsable Fixed Penalty Notice follows.......And a quick check of documents, tyre condition etc... I have the power!!!!
  4. You're probably thinking of the modules fitted to Galaxy & Mondeo. These have a master and a slave module located inside the headlamps. On the maxi the HID Lamp ignition module is in each headlamp but the leveling contol unit is a seperate module common to both. As Nick could probably tell you there have been software upgrades (not by WDS) to this module. There is a TSB. But I don't think this is the issue on this vehicle. Checked powers, grounds and for connectors not plugged in properly especially the one hidden behind the sound deadening behind the glove box??
  5. The receiver for the remote control is in the headlining above and in front of the interior lamp. I suspect that they have either knocked the plug out or cut the wiring to it when they removed the old screen. If you unclip the interior lamp you can see the receiver. It's a small black box about 25mmx25mmx15mm.
  6. They don't really need to know about the self test. It is only designed for engineering and not service. The DTC's (especially U1900) may be masked on WDS as they probably are not relevant in the real world. As long as the car functions ok then there is not a problem.
  7. Have you tried reprogramming it yourself? See the sticky in the security section. If this does not work then it may be either 1 of 3 things, Remote control, receiver or Electronic Fuse Box (PJB).
  8. The garage will not update anything unless they are told to do so. The locking is seperate from the engine and cluster so there should be no reason for them to fiddle.. If in doubt get them to make a note on the job sheet. By keypad do you mean the remote control fob?
  9. Bob, D900 = U1900 = Missing CAN Message 9600 = B1600 = No key read 9602 = B1602 = Poor key read. Don't worry. Unless there is a problem with the car I would ignore the codes. Especially U1900. They may have been set a long time ago and not cleared.
  10. I can't except that maybe your battery had recovered sufficiently by then. I can assure you that the bonnet is not linked to the immobiliser. (Except ASM vehicles)
  11. Only if you have the auto shift manual transmission.
  12. Do you have the PTC heater version? Could just be dust on this but to be safe get the dealer to check it out. don't want a fire.
  13. Actual fact chaps the files that you mention are for different vehicle builds. The engine ECU is of a different types UHFBAC1 is a later vehicle.
  14. There is a recognised dealer modification (TSB) to change the rear calipers.
  15. As you drive more the computer averages over a longer period. It keeps a "rolling average". This kind of behaviour I would expect.
  16. Nick have you got any more for sale?? I need to wipe my rse........ Nice one chaps.. :)
  17. 02 Focus = GEM, 03.73 Focus = PJB Same thing really just has fuses as well. GEM = Generic Electronic Module PJB = Passenger Junction Box It's the fuse box near to the glove box. On the Maxi it contains a lot of electronics. Not a difficult task with the dealer tool to enable the HFS if necessary.
  18. Well done Nick. Bit of a stranger to these pages these days?? You also need to do the advert for the C170 Focus as well. And whilst you're at it you can post the trip computer accuracy settings and EATC self test mode and DEATC display test mode...... Oooh the list goes on..
  19. Also let us know if the PJB works without the need for re programming please.
  20. Try disconnecting the battery and then reconnecting to issue a reset to the radio. enter the code and try again. Normally cures the "no discs" message when the unit is full!! May not be your probelm and make sure you know the code first.
  21. Take out the glove box and poke something through the grommet.
  22. How about the grommet where the main loom comes through?
  23. you need the special keys. They fit in the small slots. Take care as it's easy to force the keys in and bend the release tabs the wrong way. Then you'll have a terrible job getting it out!!
