  1. This alarm behaviour is a Thatcham requirement. I believe that later build vehicles are being supplied with 2 remote keys. (but don't quote me!)
  2. On the Maxi and the New Focus the customer key programming should not be possible if the vehicle has been set up correctly at the end of the production line, Always worth a try however. :)
  3. To add a second remote key the dealer will have to program the remote part (easy) and also the immobiliser part. This will require the use of his WDS test tool and he'll be charging you at least 1/2 hours worth of labour time plus the £15 he gets charged for a code form Fords. Does the key price include cutting? Not all dealers have the necessary tool so it may have to be cut at another dealer which would incure an additional cost.
  4. Inlet metering valve. A device used to control the fuel pressure from the pump. If it sticks then the system cannot build up a pressure and it wont start. The dealer will use WDS to monitor the fuel presure whilst cranking for a few seconds.
  5. Yep... PCM = Powertrain Control Module TCM = Transmission Control Module.
  6. Consumption hasn't been affected. You've just reset the rolling average.
  7. Yes they are software based but unless Ford need to do another "flash" you'll have to buy a new cluster and possibly an EHPAS module.
  8. The TSB's will only be done if you complain. The dealer should have a "Yellow" WDS CD to rectify these concerns.
  9. The tandem box is nothing more than an op amp and a variable resistor. It fools the ECU about the fuel pressure. The increase in fuel pressure can have a drastic effect on pump and injector life span.
  10. Beats me. I've tried all the acronyms I can think of but EPD is new to me. Does everything appear to function normally? Definately EPD?
  11. Should have been a bit smart and said that you HAD complained about the issues within the first year but the dealer failed to fix them.
  12. That's why I though of the heater. They only work below a preset temp. Around 5-10 degrees. Actually there are 3 additional heaters for the Maxi. Electric, Additional, & Parking which does actually heat things up whilst you're away.
  13. Also there is a software update for the EPB. Have you had this done?
  14. Alan, Is your vehicle fitted with the Fuel Fired Diesel Heater? If so it could be this going through a purge sequence prior to firing up. Although I wouldn't expect it to be that audible. Steve.
  15. Dis, should you really have posted the engineering pass code?
  16. That's because when the update is done the dealer needs to do the radio separately to the cluster. So he's only done the cluster.
  17. That's impressive!!! Haven't seen anything like that except on a vehicle that had been swimming in the sea!!
  18. Does it actually turn the lock? If so can you feel it operating any mechanics inside the door? With only one key you're gonna be paying the dealer a visit soon anyway.....
  19. True, Believe me, if my car was fitted with one ----- it wouldn't be for long!! I've lost count of how many i've turned off on the Mondeo's.
  20. Oh yes it is. It forms part of the overall security/safety insurance rating for the vehicle. I had a similar discussion with certain people regarding the autolocking feature. Hence the dealers can no longer do it.... If you choose to disable or enable these features yourself then Ford cannot be held responsible.
