I get a rattle from both front doors on mine but if I lower the windows just slightly it stops. Very annoying!

The Mk2 is a much heavier car than the Mk1 so really 100bhp isn't enough. The 1.8 petrol or one of the diesels I'm sure suits the cars weight more, the disadvantage of the 1.8 being the extra road tax. Watch for the Ti-VCT engine to return in the Focus Mk3 in 2010. It will be in the New Fiesta when it's launched later this year.

The original 1.6 L (1596cc) generates 100PS (98 hp/73 kW) at 6000 rpm and 106 ft·lbf (145 N·m) at 4000 rpm. In 2004, along with the launch of the second generation Ford Focus, torque was increased to 111 ft·lbf (150 N·m) at 4000 rpm. The 1.6 L was also fitted with variable valve timing, known as Ti-VCT (Twin independent Variable Camshaft Timing), and generates 115 PS (113 hp/84 kW) at 6000 rpm and 114 ft·lbf (155 N·m) at 4150 rpm. In 2007 the Ti-VCT unit was uprated to produce 125 PS (123hp/92 kW) at 6300 rpm and 118 ft·lbf (160 N·m) at 4100 rpm, for use in the new Ford Mondeo.

p5byn why do you feel the Mk2.5 100bhp is better than the Ti-VCT 115, the 100bhp hasn't changed from the Mk2 has it?

So they should replace them for free under warranty? Mine is covered until November. -

Mine's doing this when cold especially. Creaking when turning the wheel at parking speeds. It's a 55 plate, I thought the recall or advisory was for earlier builds? -
Which 1.6 petrol to buy - the 98bhp or 113bhp

The 1.6 Ti-VCT is still available in the New Mondeo and will also be available in the New Fiesta when it's launched later this year. Why it's been dropped from the facelifted Focus I have no idea. Expect it will reappear in the all New Focus in 2010, all there will be a new generation of turbo charged petrol engines by then! -
Had some Goodyear Excellence fitted on the back a month ago, the car is so much quieter now. Continentals on the back before, still have Michelin's on the front.

Faulty Hand Brake Query?????
maff257 replied to vantheman1blue's topic in MK2 - Ford Focus 2005 > 2011
I don't press the button as it says in the manual, my instructor never taught me to press the button. I think the only reason people press the button is because they don't like the ratchet noise! -
Looking at the new Focus e-brochure that I've downloaded from the Ford site, Vision is a new blue which is similar to Aquarius. There is also Performance Blue, again similar but that's ST only.

you can now build the revised Focus and they've deleted the Ti-VCT engine!! You can only get the 100PS 1.6, next one up is the 1.8. Ti-VCT is now only available on the Mondeo. Maff

I've been doing some research online and apparently the new Goodyear Excellence tyres are a good all rounder and pretty much the quietest tyres available.

I drive a Zetec Climate and have Conti SportContact 2's on the front and Michelin Pilot Primacys on the rear, it was this way when I bought it used. I find the Contis to be quite noisy, the rubber must be quite a hard compound as it makes the ride really bumpy and alot of vibration from rough roads comes into the cabin. Am thinking of changing them for a more comfortable & quieter tyre, any recommendations? Thanks Maff
