  1. Sadly not. It wasn't the intercooler pipe. Tried to contact Ford Technical but got Customer Services. After reaching an impasse with them I reluctantly agreed for it to go in for a diagnostic at another dealership [that hadn't thrown up a fault code to date so was not convinced it would do this time]. Showed them the screen dump of RTV's suggestions and the feedback from a friend of my partners who had a similar fault on a Mondeo that turned out to be a fuel sensor. They eventually got it to show a EGR valve fault - I reluctantly agreed to have that changed [reluctant because it's alread
  2. Thanks very much for that RTV - as Lucky Eddiie says - sounds like a plan. Will give it a go. Regards June
  3. Unfortunately it's not sorted. The problem has been there since I got the car - nothing shows up on the computer, my local Ford dealer has had it and run 300 odd miles on it but didn't happen when they had it. Because nothing shows up on the computer they say Ford Technical can't help! I too have tried turning the engine off - sometimes that works sometimes it doesn't, so I just keeep going and eventually it sorts itself out - than can be over a short distance or over several miles. The car has never actually stalled but when it is messing up bad I do not trust/feel confident that it won't.
  4. Thanks Doug. That is a new angle to persue. It's not just on motorway runs it does it,nor is it specific to travelling a long time or at high speed. I don't do many very low mileage runs, but have known it happen after going about 14 miles at urban speeds. The garage's diagnostic system does not pick anything up, nor is anything logged on the computer fault.
  5. I have an 04 C Max Ghia that has an intermittent problem which does not show anything on the computer log. I can be driving along doing fine, when all of a sudden the car begins to start hunting, without warning it begins losing speed then surging, loosing spped then surging. This is quite un-nerving when you are trogging along in the outside lane of a motorway. Although the car has not actually stalled it has come pretty close to doing so a time or two. Eventually the fault clears itself - this can be after a mile or so or up to 15 miles. Stopping the car and re-starting it doesn't make any
