  1. Getting a bit fed up with my c-max. Great drive, great car - but I'm convinced there's a design problem with electronic hand brake. It's a 2.0 tDci, 54 plate. At the moment I'm only getting a EPB warning light and messge, but in a 2 year car with less than 20000 on the clock I don't expect any warnings. That's why I bought a new car. I don't get warnings with the V reg Corsa with 80k done... The car has already gone through a set of discs and pads. This according to the garage was due to a known issue with the EPB. (Well, known by the garage until I complained to Ford, and Ford conta
  2. Just put my 2.0 DCi Ghia in for its 2 year service, and have had to have the rear pads and discs replaced as they were on the limit. The garage (Hendy Ford) said that this was an issue with C-maxs with an electric handbrake. Has anyone else heard this or had this problem? I have already raised a complaint with Ford Customer Care to get my money back, as that is simply not fit for purpose (and frankly raises safety issues on my family car). However I'm intrigued to know how widely known an issue it is. George
  3. Update: Took the car into my local Ford dealer today. First things first - they were very good - friendly, polite and honest. So full marks there. They think it is the clutch, and they have had a similar problem with a few. They don't think the clutch is going as there are no other symptoms, but they agree there's definately something needs doing. They were quite straight and said they don't really know what problem is or if it will be anything that could go wrong while driving. So my family hols could be an interesting risk... Car booked in for a proper take-the-gearbox-out look on th
  4. I have a funny smell in the car. As I slowed down for some traffic lights, I changed from 3rd to 2nd, only to be met with a very strong smell, and a funny noise (not a grinding, "you've missed that gear" noise, but an odd one). The smell is a sort of burning one (so that's not good), and the engine now seems to "whistle" a bit at certain speeds. Smell quite noticable a few days later, and more so under the bonnet. I'm taking the car into my local dealer on Wednesday (presumably they're shut for problems* over the bank hols), but has anyone got any ideas of what it might be? Car's only
