Sorry all, I think (think) I have solved it. It looks like there may be a thick layer of paint over each of the screw threads. I will have to get up my nerve to scrape off one of them, to hopefully reveal the fixing. If anyone can confirm this makes sense I would appreciate it Thanks

I have just bought a MAY 07 Zetec and would like to be able to fit roof bars when required. I have done a good search to find topics about this, but have not found any info about how to actually fit the bars. My problem is, when I remove the plastic covers on the roof, there is no fixing point (threaded hole) of any kind. Am I missing something here? How do the feet actually secure to the roof? Thanks
