  1. Hi, It's about time I got some new wipers, any recommendations on what I should get, and from where? Thank you.
  2. Nah, think I'll leave it where it is for now, but I'm a bit worried that the relatively bare wires are the end of the AUX cable are exposed. I might see how easy it is to remove the surround of the gear stick after all....
  3. Thanks for posting about this, I had another crack at it tonight. This time I made sure all the leads were *firmly* pushed together... and it works :) The AUX sound is pretty loud, should be alright, and unlike the last time I tried, it plays CDs still. I don't think I quite had the leads pushed together firmly last time, there was an extra "click" this time, so thanks for your description - much appreciated.
  4. Oh that's a good idea.... now I'm even more anxious to get the damn thing working ;) Think I'll post my query to the electrical forum, see what they make of it....
  5. Heh, that's ok ;) I've got a Ford 6000CD radio. I have the gap in my glovebox where I can fit the AUX cable, but there's nothing there at the moment except the gaps showing where I need to drill. I've bought an AUX cable. However when I took the radio out to fit the AUX cable on the back of it, there's some other cable plugged in there already. I don't know what that cable is, except when I remove it, I can't play CDs. When I plugged in my purchased AUX cable to that port I could get some output from a device plugged into the other end of the AUX cable, except it was incredibly q
  6. I've got the AUX connection in the glove box, but to be honest it looks a bit useless. AFAICT you'll have to leave the glove box door open to keep a cable in there, and with the glove box not slanting downwards at all, everything will fall out. I plan on just dangling the connector out somewhere inobtrusive, sealed with some electrical tape. A bit naff but far more useful ;)
  7. Hi Darando :) Yes, definitely got an AUX button... which is why I was so surprised when I took the radio out and saw all it's cable positions were full.
  8. Well I got the bits ages ago, and the right keys... and finally got around to removing the stereo. It turns out that what appears to be the relevant part of the 6000CD already has something plugged into it. The back of my radio looks something like this: http://img458.imageshack.us/img458/9897 ... ord8hx.jpg A photo is here: http://img233.imageshack.us/my.php?imag ... diorm2.jpg I'd expect the end of my AUX cable to plug into where the white cable end is. And it does plug in there, but the sound output was extremely quiet, and with the AUX cable plugged in there, I couldn't hear C
  9. Ah... bought the bits... then realised I don't have any "radio removal tools". Where do I get hold of these, or is there anything that will make do, but won't scratch the unit?
  10. Yeah, that's not what I'm getting. I'll look into fuses, but I suspect the dealer will have to work some magic... Contrary to what I'm sure the manual says, pressing SET works... pressing ON doesn't appear to have much of an effect. I'll re-read the manual, slowly, and then have another look at this while on a very quiet motorway one night.
  11. Yeah, that's not what I'm getting. I'll look into fuses, but I suspect the dealer will have to work some magic...
  12. Hi, My cruise control worked once, when I pressed the "on" button going at around two miles an hour just to check that it worked at all in my new car. Since then nothing happens... Is there any way to reset it? I don't know if it was confused because I was going so slowly... I realise it only works above 25 miles per hour. Anything I can push, pull, press or tweak because I resort to asking the dealer to kick it?
  13. Got the kit today :) I think I'd prefer to mount it in the console, as 1_8zetec_climate said, it's a pain to have the glovebox open, especially as the glovebox doesn't slope downwards, so everything just falls out. Is there an easy way to mount it in one of the bays either side of the buttons in front of the gear stick, to the left or right of the buttons for the front and rear heated screens? I don't have EPS ( ??? ) so I've just got a plastic blanking plate in there. Of course I could just leave the lead dangling out, but that's going to be a little messy... and just invite losing loose
  14. Hi all, Finally got myself a Mk2 Ford Focus, and I'd like to fit the "iPod" port in the glove compartment so I can use the AUX function on my 6000CD. I couldn't see anything in the forums, how easy is this to do? Or do I just need to look harder for a HOWTO? As my second hand car was bought from a dealer, and is still under warranty, am I better off just getting the dealer to do this for me?
