I work near Essex, so perhaps if I do try and go through with this I'll drop him a line!
-
Yep, that's one of the one's I've been looking at, along with this one.. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/GENUINE-FORD-FOCU ... 45f1892343 which an absolute bargain - but struggling to find a 4-spoke focus airbag
-
Yeah, had a good read of that second article - I might chance it, if I can get the bits for the right price - at least then we'll all know. I think the bit that makes me nervous is having it activated by ford - ie they wont do it/it gets messed up.
-
Just seen a mondeo s/w airbag complete with c/c buttons - looks very nice, but I may be pushing my luck expecting that to work with a focus!
-
Thanks RB2004 - any idea if the mondeo one will fit? had THIS airbag in mind from mk3 non-cc mondeo. Will have a look for the clutch switch - how noticeable is it? I saw a few days ago a post on here giving the commands needed to enable cc on the gem, but can't find them now - don't happen to know where to look for them do you? Thought I'd book-marked it!
-
And besides, where's the fun in getting the car that already has all the extras? 8)
-
Much easier, yes - and would have loved to - but the car was a gift from my parents, so didn't want to take the pee when picking - and do all titanium's come with CC anyway?
-
OK, so the 4 spoke steering wheels used on the focus for Cruise Control look like the standard MK3 mondeo wheels - what are the chances that the mk3 mondeo air bags will fit a focus 4 spoke wheels? Will the CC controls be in the way?
-
Cheers - The full set of digits before the CB is 0537 7M5T 14A073 CB (the 0537 in larger digits than the rest) Any other bits I should keep an eye out for to do this - did I read that I'd need a servo of some sort? Do make things even more interesting, I'd need to replace the airbag as well, as my s/w is a 3 spoke but the c/c one is 4 spoke. hmmm

On seconds thoughts - my plan of retro-fitting cruise control may have just been dashed, as I don't think my pjb supports it (version 'CB') :(

hello, looking to maybe replace my steering wheel. Is there any difference in the MK2 and MK2.5 wheels? Thanks!

Well, I pulled the panel off today, and of the 3 clips it's meant to have, 1 was missing altogether, 1 was completely un-attached to the panel, and the third wasn't really doing anything either, so it was just the adhesive along the 1 edge holding it down. Was going to order a new panel, but couldn't wait for it really as it was threatening to come off whilst I was driving, so just got some ultimate no more nails and put a blob where each clip was and along the edge, which looks like it's done the job, but will keep an eye on it.

Well, I've made an offer for one - BiN price was £50, so if they accept my offer, I'll get it for £40 + p&p. If doesn't work, I'll just get a new blank blade and re-sell it. Edit: Got it for £45 + £6p&p I'll let you know how I get on - I took my existing fob apart today, and could see the transponder, so if the one in the flip key is as easily accessible, I might give it a go!

Just to program the PATS? I can get the key from eBay and teach it, I just need get ford to do the PATS bit. I guess I could try the method described in the sticky to program the PATS as I do have 2 keys, but the article suggests that it won't work for mk2's. Can local garages with the necessary kit do this bit? I would go with the transplant method, just worried about it going wrong and having no key at all!
-
Found THIS post on a different forum which claims that you can indeed go from standard to flip key on a mk2. Not sure I'll go down the 'transponder transplant' route though - I'll just have to cough up for Ford to do that bit :x
-
Thanks. If it helps at all, the handbook does give equal instructions on using the flip key as the non flip key (actually, covers the flip key more I reckon), so it was clearly available on some models.
-
Thanks RB2004 - so essentially, the MK2 CC's (with & without Armrest) and the MK2.5 CC's (with & without armrests) are all interchangeable - with the exception of things like start button & usb ports?
-
Thanks RB2004 - really good over-view. Shame I wasn't a 2.5 - very nice exterior body, but happy with my 2.0/2.5 hybrid! :D

Hello, sorry for asking yet another question! Is it possible to replace the 'normal' key with a flip key? Reading the 'Key and Remote Programming. The Answers' post, which only touches on MK2 cars (mine's mk'2.1'). From what i can gather, I can get a new blank flip key, get it cut, (seen some sellers will cut it for you!), link the key to my car myself - then get a dealer to program the immobilisers. Is this everything - and will it work going from a normal to a flip key? I also have the null key - but think it said this was more for self-programming the key, which the guide reckons can'

Yeah, I gave my a good whack this morning (rather than the gentle push I'd been giving it) and it didn't budge this morning on the motorway - but I didn't get over 60 the whole time so I'm yet to know if it's done the job. I *think* the risk of it coming off mid-drive is low, as i think it wraps around the edge of the door slightly so when the door is shut it's held in place - but it's still nerve wracking when you're driving along as can see (and hear!) the panel coming away!
-
Thanks RB2004, I'm sure when I had a look the other day it was held down with what looked a thick glue-like putting - dark gray in colour. If I bought a new one, would this come with new clips also? and can I get this from any ford dealer?

Hello, I'm hoping to retro-fit the arm-rest console to my mk'2.1' Focus Style. Is anyone able to answer the following questions I have... -Is the console for the 2.1 the same as used in the 2.5? -I've seen some centre console are just the skeleton without the plastic trims - will the trims from the existing centre console fit onto the armrest console? -The centre consoles I've seen seem to have an area for a socket/button just before the gear gaitor - what is this (aux input?), and can it be incorporated into my car? -Any good places to go to get a new console other that direct from ford?
-
Hello, has anyone come across this problem before, or know the best way to fix it? the trim panel on the drivers door comes loose when driving - as is on the verge of coming off mid-drive. It's the plastic bit that runs down the external side of the door glass and meets the door pillar when the door is closed. Looks like it's held on with glue & clips, but it's coming loose. Anyone know the best fix for this - I'm guessing just getting some strong adhesive should do it - any recommendations as to which to use? Thanks!
-
2.1 it is :D thanks

My lights certainly don't look like that second picture, to it must me a MK2 with the newer cd player fitted. (It's definitely factory cd player though, as it was a rental car before I owned it)
