  6. Welcome Alan, Im not a fan of the 1.8 I had one in my mk1 focus and it was useless in 5th gear to increase speed even on a slight incline you had to drop to 4th which ruined the MPG unlike the 1.8 tdci I replaced it with, having said that I let my wife buy a 1.8 c-max as she doesent do many miles and again its poor in 5th (my 1.6 old Vectra was better in 5th ) anyways if I get the chance to swap hers for my tdci c-max I will see what RPM = 40mph in 5th with her 1.8 petrol final drive ratio and post a reply. Edit : Just for you ! Quick test drive and 2000RPM = 43 MPH on a flat road in 5th
  7. Monday 11th August 2003 Ford Adds To MAX Factor ar giant Ford is taking it to the MAX with a whole new family of models. Our insiders have spilled the beans on the firm's entire MPV product plan, which is set to include an all-new Galaxy, a Mondeo-based soft-roader and even a more practical version of the quirky Ka. That will take its inspiration from the Turing Ka concept. Each car will be named in the same style as the recently launched C-MAX, with the flagship of the family the E-MAX. It will be the next-generation Galaxy, due in 2005, and will remain the same size and a ful
  8. …the comfy chair We own a J-reg Honda Accord 4ws 2.2i automatic and an 02-reg Jazz manual with 21,000 miles on the clock. The Accord has given splendid service and is still a pleasure to drive, although it can't be worth very much and it won't be financially wise to repair it as and when any problems develop. After that time comes we will probably make do with one car. We have also been very pleased with the Jazz, purchased largely on your repeat recommendations. Can you suggest a car that combines Accord-style comfort with Jazz-like ease of access? J.F., via e-mail I'd find a Ford dea
  9. Just watched Midsummer murders on ITV, in it they had a C-Max done up as a Police traffic car, does anyone know if the REAL police use the C-Max ?
  10. What is the latest/best software level and how do I check mine?
  11. Agreed, I recently did 580 miles over 2 days and thats a lot for me normally 100 a day and it was a joy to drive the C-Max with its ride height and pokey (70++ MPH) 2.0 TDCI (48MPG) engine up and down the motorways much better than ANY of my previous NORMAL cars...........
  12. Well I have taken your advise and wedged cardbord pieces into each corner of the screen and one in the centre then coloured it black to match the screen edge so it not noticeable and it WORKS and its sheer BLISS no creeking dash utter BLISS, I have also removed the radio and split a clothes peg and put half above and below the unit as it slides back into the sleeve and it also works and again BLISS no sqeeking radio console. You may have guessed how pleased I now am. Many thanks........
  13. I guess the A pillar is the ones running up the side of the windscreen ? how does this trim come off as I think you may be right ? TIA
  14. First thing I did no difference (and they were all loose)
  15. I have now got myself one of those dashboard rattles well its a creek actually you know the one - very annoying. I have removed the map box lid and the blank plate on the drivers side next to it as well and its still creeking so its underneath the map box. So how to get underneath the map tray/box ? remove the glove box or the radio ? but which one and how? any ideas welcomed

  17. Had one fitted to my old car when I bought it, it was allready done a britax very good job it was too and would consider one myself ford want a kick up the backside on this subject as there all cost options its like being back in the 70s again.
  18. Well its been 11 days since I bought my C-Max, second hand I might add, covered over 1000 miles in it so far & its the first car I have ever bought that isen't "normal" and I really like it. Dont get me wrong its nothing to look at a real ford tin can, the interior is at best utility like, that said its a car, its an mpv, its the ride height of some 4x4s, its many things in one, its also dammed quick and given its fantastic pace fom the lights and the 43-59 mpg when hammered up and down the roads its great The ride quality is also good, as are the brakes and the height makes driving
