All seems to be ok now. Messages have been sent. The funny thing was when I told the service department about the software version required, it took them two days to get back to me to confirm what I had told them. When I took the vehicle in to be updated I said to the service manager I was quite concerned that it was me that had told them what to do, he looked slightly embarassed and dismissed it saying that they are the first to know about updates, it didn't really all add up.
