  1. I will try the disconnection theory tomorrow. I then hope it would be just the battery but maybe it won't be having changed it? Not sure what tests I cld do so that I won't run up any costs. Don't Ford do a diagnostic test when they service your car? Mine is dues one :P
  2. whats and EGR? Isn't that something to worry about? The light I am talking about...its more of an electical fault? Is it anything to do with the oil or coolant? Should I panic?
  3. thanks...hmmm fingers crossed it isn't serious. And costly! A diagnostic test is expensive to :(
  4. Car is a 2004 1.6 TCDI ZETEC. 3 hours ago the ENGINE WARNING LIGHT CAME on whilst driving. It hasn't flashed but just stayed on until I came home. I haven't had trouble before and it is serviced by a Ford dealer every year. Though 3 days ago I went to start the car in the afternoon and it wouldn't start. The battery was low. Or dead. I had my brother come and jump start it. It has been ok since. I couldn't see anything that I may have left on overnight. I tend to only do stop start journeys back and forth to work. I will take it to the dealers tomorrow. Gawd I hope it isn't serious.
  5. cheers i have tried a damp cloth and it does work but annoying that I have to do this. I will look into it and possibly scotchguard it :)
  6. i have a 1.6 zetec tcdi 2004 wish i bought the 2.0 1.6 is not powerful enough and the mpg between them is not much.
  7. Does any C MAX owner have plastic sill protectors fitted to the rear of there MPV? I have lovely stainless steel ones for the front with C MAX engraved. Bought from Ford. I am not going to have similar in the rear. The wife with her sharp pointy heels and for the kids when they are older would scratch them. Plastic protectors are what I am looking for. So any advice would be gratefully received :D
  8. hmmm i guess you get the same? I have never experienced it on other cars I have owned. One drop of water on the seats and it looks stained :x
  9. My 2004 Zetec cloth seats easily stain when water touches them. Water stains. Put a wet umbrella on the seat or a milk carton which is wet outside or like y'day grapes which were rinsed under the tap in there plastic bag with drain holes. Placed them on the front passenger seat to munch on my journey and they left 2 huge water stains. Any idea how to get rid of them?
  10. Hey everybody as I have mentioned before I have cool stainless steel C-MAX front sills BUT now I have a 5 mth old I would like some nice plastic or rubber ones for the rear. Ok, baby is too young to climb in the rear  BUT the wife and her 6 inch long heels are catching the sills as she climbs into the back with the baby..you know how it is :? So I always supervise her when shes climbing into the back so she doesn't catch those lethal heels  Could do with some for her Fiesta 2002 LX 5 door as well? Unable to supervise he everytime as thats her car
  11. cheers phewwww!! not sure if it has done the trick. I have taken it 25 miles down the motorway I hope this has cleared the 'pipes to satisfy the retest.
  12. 2004 1.6 tcdi just in for 1st mot. Garage failed it on exhaust emitting excessive black smoke so the garage added some additive into the fuel tank and told me to take it for a 20 mile drive and bring it back for a retest later. Should solve the problem he said. I only drive the car on short trips ie back and forth to work which is 15 mins there and back. 24500 on the clock. So have i anything to worry about?
  13. Does anybody know what size the 'star key' is to remove the C-max mud flaps and the inner wing cover? I bought a set and none of them fit. DOH!! :? CHeers
