Thanks for all the replies. The Ford dealership said to me when I took my car in that they tried fixing another 2 litre diesel and the car would not start at all afterwards. They said to me that the new software disk currupted the engine management system on 2 litre diesels only. This got reported to Ford Technical who have told them to hold off reprogramming any 2 litre diesels until a new disk is sent. The latest I've heard now is early Feb.

Just joined I have a 53 Reg 2.0 TDCi Ghia which will now not start when the engine is cold. The battery has been checked out by my local ford dealer and the problem is the ERG valve seems it gets “frozen”. It needs to be replaced however it will also need reprogramming and the latest version of software will cause more problems than solve. This problem is with Ford Technical and no date has been given when it is likely to be resolved. Has anyone else experienced similar problems? Also the clock keeps resetting itself to 2200!
