  1. How can I do 75 miles all motorway driving and the average speed not change from 25mph ? Yet the fuel consumption changes rapidly even a lot of miles after reset. I could believe the old Picasso readings where the average speed and consumption would change rapidly after reset but then settle to an average that wouldn't change much without significant different driving. The C-Max doesn't inspire the same confidence in the reading. It showed 48mpg for the journey, driving for economy. Cheers Terry 2tdci
  2. Two weeks old and the new C-Max has already done 900 miles. We're really pleased, the old Picasso seemed like a transit van in comparison and we've rediscovered the fun of driving. Whereas the general handling and feel is that of something far more sporty, the C-Max does betray the compromise of a high centre of gravity when throwing it around corners. But the fact that you want to do it shows how much more fun the driving experience is. The 2.0TDCI has got all the grunt and effortless pickup the Picasso (also a 2.0d) lacked which adds to the general driving experience. The seat comfort i
  3. Thanks. I thought it was perfect but I haven't tried it in bright sunlight. I'll make sure to try before committing to mounting it there.
  4. Well I've check the positioning and as anticipated the suction cup fits perfectly in the small front quarter window. Its a much more neat, subtle and unobtrusive setup that the Picasso (I'll post a picture at the weekend when there's daylight). However wiring across to the console 12v supply is naff and I'll be having a word with Andy to see how a 5v transformer power supply can be wired into the loom. Cheers Terry
  5. Aah well I haven't got the C-Max yet (see other thread). At present the Tom Tom is on the front offside quarter window of the Picasso. The C-Max has a much smaller area of glass in this window but by eye it looked big enough for the sucker cup. Otherwise I'm not sure and will have to rethink - like drilling holes in the dash.... The Picasso has a recessed 12v supply in the dash, the C-Max less practical floor mounted in the centre console - hence the question re wiring into the loom. HTH Terry p.s. Have to say for £250 the Tom Tom One is a great gadget.
  6. Thanks Andy, I wouldn't mind a quote for wiring up the Tom Tom in a 2001 Ka. Its a basic model without the cigarette lighter, so while the Tom Tom is portable, I have to rely on battery when transfering from the C-Max. Thanks Terry t -dot - stacy - at - ntlworld - dot - com
  7. I could go on for hours re the Picasso's shortcomings. But they're all pretty minor. The irony was primarily buying a car to accommodate two growing teanagers and finding they hated the rear (reclining) seats on a long run - numb bum. I've spent 2.5 years missing my old Focus and the driving experience. My wait is almost over. I think the C-Max is being brought over from a field in Dagenham. Not quite sure why this takes 3 weeks (the max estimated by salesman - its been 2 weeks so far) could it be some kind of extra commission or deal for moving a car in the last week of an old plate ?
  8. We deliberately went for the 2ltr Picasso assuming it would have more go. That was a mistake. The 1.6 Focus before was sluggish but the Citroen simply has no guts at all. Plus the nautical handling. Its been reliable but I wont be sorry to see it go.
  9. Good eyecatching prices yes, but trade-in and loan APR probably make a difference. Dagenham Motors were a bit naughty in this regard plastering stickers over pre-reg models showing 6.9% APR but then only offering 18% when doing the deal. Got lower than 6.9APR at Inchape. Surrey/Berkshire location might also have some impact though Matlock is a long way away and if the dealer knows how far you've come then a good deal becomes more difficult. Plus the missus didn't like the electric handbrake so a Ghia was out. This sounds like I'm trying to convince myself. Which is probably true....
  10. Give that man a cigar. Zetec in Moondust Silver and dark flint interior. What is the difference between Moondust and Machine silver ? Cheers Terry
  11. 2.0TDCI in silver. Sony CD (for the MP3 compatiblity). Should be an interesting comparison going from a 90bhp 2ltr Citroen to a 2ltr 135bhp C-Max. I'll report first impressions and comparison after a few miles. Cheers Terry
  12. The console 12v cigarette lighter doesn't really look like a practical proposition for the Tom Tom power supply. Anyone got any advice on locating and powering such a unit. Otherwise looks like I'll have to get the garage to wire in the supply. Cheers Terry
  13. Inchcape in Bracknell. Never thought much of the local Guildford branch. Had a look at a few pre-reg models at Dagernham Motors. When he bought the Picasso (Sept 03) we wanted a C-Max but they had only just been released. We test drove one of the first in the country at Hendys Winchester but no way could we negotate a deal as it was a new model out. A few reasonable S/H C-Max deals in MJA Burpham. They offered to source the exact model/spec/colour we wanted. But there's nothing like a new car. Paid £14.9k for 2.0TDCI metallic with Sony. plus a good trade in on the Picasso. Che
  14. My first ever brand new car was a (Y) 1.6 Focus and we loved it. But with the kids growing up we needed something bigger/roomy. So the Focus went for a 2.0 diesel Picasso. The Citroen has been OK but its the most gutless, no-torque slow car I've ever owned. Now I'm awaiting a new 2.0D C-Max in Silver. Arrives any day now. Big discount new for buying in Feb - dealer reckoned Ford have 400 in fields in Dagenham and Belgium.
