  1. My new c-max does that too. i assumed it was to tell you youve found reverse rather than a fault! find it quite handy!
  2. Um, what are side repeaters? Wing mirror indicators?? Edit - i see, indicators. sorry for being so old school! :P
  3. I've got 1.8 tdci - ive not spotted the lamp, however if i turn on without waiting and it has come on, would it do any damage?? :?
  4. As promised, reporting back. Dealer fitted solution works well. Basically theyve fitted a wire behind the dash from the head unit to a male jack plug in the glove box which in turn just plugs into my mp3 player's headphone output. This doesn't of course give any remote control of the player but its fine solution for me and quality is excellent.
  5. As soon as i sat in my new c-max i asked the dealer, "whats that black area immediately above the message centre screen for?" 'oh it doesnt do anything' he replied. im guessing theres some optional extra you could have added is there that would use that space? If not i also guess it would have cost ford too much to have put a larged ldc screen in the console. Just seems a bit of a waste of space thats all!
  6. I'm not totally used to driving my new diesel admittedly, but im finding its not handling low speeds in 2nd very well, and has stalled with a nasty thump a couple of times when ive slowed to say 5 or 10 mph at a junction without changing down. i know a simple answer is just to change into first each time but on a petrol i never needed to. also i know someone who also has a diesel and he says he can start off in 2nd, so dont know what the problem is. anyone advise?
  7. Had our c-max a week now. when i asked if necessary to run in the engine the salemen in the garage said he probably would for first 1000 miles. he added this involves not going above 80 or revving into the red. anyone agree/disagree with this? (70mph speed limit aside ;) )
  8. sorry if this is a daft question! but loads of people on here seem to know their car's mpg quite readily - are you manually keeping track of this or is there something in the trip computer that tells you? I havent found such a feature as yet (Focus C-max Zetec 1.8 tdci)
  9. Ive also just got my new zetec. (love it) and indeed does have a perimeter alarm; however i think you might be under the same misunderstanding as i was, in that i thought 'perimeter' meant it senses movement within the car (i.e if someone breaks the window and enters the car's 'perimeter') . it doesnt though. perimeter alarms sound if the car is immobilised (double clicking lock button on key) and then someone opens it with a key.
  10. Cool again, good to know. (oops, "too fat to walk to", a freudian slip if ever I've seen one! )
  11. That is handy, the dealer I'm buying from is way too fat to walk to. There is a nearer one within cycling distance however - does anyone know if you can take into any dealer, or does it have to be the one you bought from? Sounds daft question to ask but.....
  12. Talking of fail safes - I've often wondered what exactly would happen (and then quickly think best not to think about it when hurtling along at, ahem, 70mph) if electronics failed in a car - with my Stilo, when ignition is off the steering wheel locks! Not ever had the nerve to test it, but do they build a fail safe in for such scenarios that power cuts out when driving at speed??
  13. Cheers. Yeah I was getting ok results, just a few cut outs in the UK with the transmitter - however in France, which has vastly more FM broadcasters, you'll have a very frustrating listen to a latest album! Not that I have a choice, as the dealer is already fitting it for me now, but I'll report back when I've tried it ;)

  15. thanks for that, bit far away from me, but im sure other places nearer do it too. i didnt know it was even possible! glad i didnt decide it was a deal breaker now!
  16. Interesting - who did that for you? Good job?
  17. Wives are murder for that yype of thing eh? ;) Yeah i was gonna go for black having looked at ford's site, but then saw both black and sea grey in forecourt and it looks much nicer. My only disappointment is that apparently Zetec's dont any longer have the tinted rear windows which wouldve made it look even cooler in my opinion. but what can you do when "specifications are subject to change without notice" etc. The gits.
  18. I had this exact problem occur driving through France two years ago in my Fiat Stilo, was terrified the airbag might just go off suddenly whilst tonning it down the french autoroutes! I rang fiat from france who sais its usually a loose wire and not to worry and when i took it in it was indeed the wiring under the drivers seat (I too couldnt find anything obviously loose) so my guess is that is the likely culprit.
  19. I've just changed my order from a black zetec to a sea grey as well! Good choice that man :) Mine does have dark flint though as ive heard same thing with light flint being a bit of a mare. You could of course get those black leather effect seat covers (come in pack for front and back i beleive) from halfords which looked surprisingly good for the price when i fitted them in my mums car a while back.
  20. Well that suits me enough. Being able to control the player from the stereo / joystick control would be a massive bonus but just to chuck my far less than brilliant fm transmitter solution out will be a joy in itself!
  21. Another thing imediately occurred to me when seeing the 1.8 engine is cast iron not aluminium on the 1.6 and 2.0 is surely weight isn't it? Mind you I confess I've never tried picking up either a cast iron or an aluminum engine
  22. Just bought a zetec and having seen the aux question on here i asked about it. They're fitting an aux socket to plug my mp3 player into in the glove compatment for me which they normally charge £40 for (which they claim involves removing the dash!) Wont get car until april so who knows what the socket will be like with my mp3 player.
  23. "Sounds the best" as in on paper sounds the best? or audibly?!
  24. I'm pleased to read this thread! I've just bought a 1.8 at a hefty £4k discount, apparently last one in the country in the colour (sea grey) and becuase new model prices are out possibly this week they agreed with some heavy haggling to discount the price by £4k. I was a bit concerned as I too had seen the engines in 1.8 are only 8 valve compared to 1.6's 16v, despite having a higher PS than 1.6. glad to hear someone say it'll possibly have less problems though! I'd test driven a 2.0 and wat a bit offput by the noise, i had heard 1.8's were a bit quieter but oh well, guess will have to get
