  1. I had this same nasty problem which lingered for about a month after it first occurred. Then just as we were about to go on a two week camping holiday in france last month (and were dreading the smell in the heat!) it miraculously vanished!
  2. "revolting smells from C MAX " http://www.ffoc.co.uk/modules.php?name= ... 65#1570565 ...Sorry but I couldn't help but think these two posts were some how linked going by the thread titles!
  3. "Strange discovery in rear seats!!! " http://www.ffoc.co.uk/modules.php?name= ... c&t=160705 ...Sorry but I couldn't help but think these two posts were some how linked going by the thread titles!
  4. I notice this more on cold start but i often find first gear quite stiff to find, needing what seems more than usual effort to push it in. Is this down to just a cold engine / gearbox, or something i should have looked at?
  5. What would be ideal is a gps / mobile mount that fits into the totally redundant in my book card / car park ticket holder slots!
  6. had new c-max for aroud a month now. one thing i notice which i havent on previous admiteddly lighter cars, is the pale whitish water marks where the rain has run down the back of the car. anyone else notice this?!
  7. Yep that sounds like the best plan, thanks for all your advice !
  8. I have a tomtom one which has a suction mount that sticks to the windscreen, and given the c-max windscreen is so steeply raked i have to mount if quite a distance from me and often its in direct sunlight making it hard to read. additionally the suction mount isnt all that efficient and often falls off during driving which again it quite a reach to put it back on especially whilst on the move. just wondered if anyone had any alternative tips on where to mount a satnav unit on their c-max?!
  9. Well yes that is of course also true, you'd have to hunt around quite a bit for a closest spec. When we were enquiring originally we were told we'd couldnt have a 'made to order' model as there werent any in the factory, however we could if we wanted have one in a totally different colour/trim/price and without the spec we wanted. great!
  10. You could always wait, and go for a say a 6 month old one if you didn't like the new model of course. From what I've seen, and it isn't a great deal, it does look very much like a shorter version of the s-max, so if you like the look of that......
  11. I bought a new c-max last month (old version) and was in a slight quandry whether to wait for the new model. however ford are currently (or at least were last month) discounting certainly the zetec range of old c-max. they wont say when the new model comes out but i heard June somewhere. The question is seeing as the engines will remain unchanged, whether you want the updated body style and interior trim enough to spend very close to list price in june, or buy one now, and feasibly get a very decent discount (i had about 2.5k off list price and a privilege discount of 1.5k). Ford dealers
  12. I get this noise in the van & C-Max. But only when the wife or kids are with me That's a class response Andy! :D lol Thanks FFC, I'll see how it continues and then reluctantly take it along to the de\aler if it continues.
  13. Thanks for reply. It's a 1.8tdci. Air con was off. Where's/what's the airbox?!
  14. I noticed this morning on our new c-max, which is only at 600 miles, theres a strange low level whining noise coming from the engine. It's a low whistle / whine, which I realise is going to be hard to diagnose on here but thought someone might recognise it! The only way i can describe it is like a falling/rising note, similar to the noise you sometimes get with cars when the radio picks up the transmission, although it doesnt increase with acceleration as that noise might. (can hear the noise with the radio off incidentally.) Another way I might describe it, is if you own a Dyson vaccum cle
  15. I had a similar crack in my old stilo screen (didnt have element in that mind) but auto windscreens just put some of that glue stuff on it to stop it spreading which it never did.
  16. No it is true, the Privilege discount scheme has indeed changed. You no longer get a percentage discount but instead its a fixed price off the best price you can negotiate with the dealer. This varies from model to model. We just bought our C-max and had a fixed £1500 off as the privilege discount. Just checked and £750 is indeed right privilege discount for Fiesta Style & Style Climate models unless you go for a Fiesta Ghia or Zetec S in which case its £1000 discount, or a Fiesta ST which is £1500. They're not having you on, unfortunately. p.s best not to mention the Privilege dis
  17. Is this all to do with the feature that they moot as the 'quick clear windscreen' or is that to the tiny wires embedded in the glass? (i dont know whats fitted to the standard spec)
  18. Yeah I'm sure both are true. I'm really not used to it yet. I'm told higher revs before totally releasing the clutch, compared to a perol where its not needed, would improve standing starts and I guess this clutch control is something one gets used to. But the torque and rapid acceleration after the initial lags makes up for it.
  19. I was just looking at the fromt home page on ffoc and the fuel tax new item. What band is c-max?? How did the budget effect a 1.8tdci c-max for example? price up or down? i assume as an mpv the c-max isn't in the 'gas guzzler' bracket is it?? one other thing whilst on that subject, am travelling by ferry to france this summer and notice a few of the ferry companies ask you to specify 'car' or 'mpv' (although the maximum height of the car or mpv is the same, i.e upto 2metres or something). So does anyone know if it costs more to specify that you have an mpv? (it didnt appear to when i was
  20. I've never yet had my wiper come on when engaging reverse. however my rear sensor does beep which i presumed was just a "handy" indicator that youve found reverse - is it possible that if you dont have the sensors fitted theyve made it so the wiper tells you youre in reverse? or is it just a dodgy connection somewhere making the sensor beep / wiper sweep!?
  21. Yep you have same engine as mine. slow off the mark for first 4 seconds then it flies off. which is nice. :) thanks for advice guys. ill err on side of caution, seeing as its not far off doing 1000 now anyway. quite looking forward to seeing what it can do when i can cane it a bit ;)
  22. sounds about right, even possibly quite cheap dare i say, as i beleive just the standard Zetec style (i.e doesnt have flip out key) is about that price. no experience of ebay sellers mind - how does that work? send them your key code and your address? bit of a leap of faith isn't it! Their feedback should tell you if theyre reputable enough in order for you to trust them though i suppose. I thought the dealer is obliged to provide you with a spare at time of purchase? Mine did, albeit the spare doesnt have the buttons, just a old school key. My Fiat Stilo was supplied with two Ghia stylee fo
  23. Yep same here, was told by the dealer as i placed order 'sorry, zetec's weve had in last few months no longer come with privacy glass' :( But then day i collected my sea grey c-max, was told good news that the 2007 build models do again have it! looks way cooler with. (i think the zetec/ghia's colou coded side mouldings were always standard on zetec/ghia, but agree also look nicer.)
  24. Thanks for your reply - and thanks for having read an answered three of my separate posts! There's dedication for you! :) Yep i cant be arsed with mpg measuring, im not really all that interested in all honesty if it costs £30 or £35 a week to run really as my mileage will be fairly low over a year anyway. I will try the trip computer though. Got the Zetec 1.8tdci so only 5 speed but yes i too have heard that new engines can be a bit tight at low mileage so always pleased to hear that what is already a lovely drive will only get better! (problems and crappy dealers aside, that i'm yet to hav
