  1. Some progressions on this. Dealer has had the car from last night through all the day, and have managed during today, to replicate the problem 3 times. Which is good news. Although they were a bit lost at first to explain it, they have now stated that the fuel pressure is very low when the incidents occur. Under direction from Ford, they have apparently been advised to replace the fuel pump and ancilliary components. Hopefully this will sort the problem, suppose only time will tell.
  2. Agreed ucsman. However from experience you will find that Ford class discs as a "friction material" and is therefore excluded from the warranty. Bull i know, but that will be their response. Took me 3 phone calls, 2 letters and the threat of legal action and naming and shaming for them to replace my discs, even with the car covered by a 2 year unlimited milage warranty. Their take was that the part failed through wear, which was only to be expected due to the mileage. However, if you offer a timed warranty period and a part fails during that period, and you do not restrict mileage, i
  3. Not that i'm aware of, but it is the wife's car and she fuels generally. Suppose anything is possible. But surely the problems would be greater than we are experiencing wouldn't they?
  4. Should not invalidate the warranty. As Ford will no doubt drill into anyone who asks the warranty's will exclude "brake friction material", and as such it will be your choice where you have this work done, without invalidating items that are covered by warranties. Obviously they would have a greater case for this discussion if you fit improper parts (however should not need to be ford parts)
  5. Hey guys, Had the C-max now for around 8 months, and mostly run fine although still getting max of 34 mpg. Anyway, over the last 3 weeks have had an intermittant problem with the car failing to start on 3 occasions. On each occasion the car has been previously started and driven prior to the incident occuring such as driven to Tesco. When you come out of the shop to go home, the car will not start. Engine turns over, but it does not start. On the first occasion this happened, we tried it a few times, and then waited a good 20 minutes, before trying again. Following have the car turn
  6. Have had a 2.0TDCi since Nov 04 and have not had it back to the dealer yet, but have been planning to, seems like i need to sonner rather than later after reading your comments. The car has now done 2000 miles in total, mostly town driving, wife has the car in the week, and the best fuel consumption figure that i have ever achieved is 34MPG. The trip computer currently is giving me a figure of 29.9MPG. Although i don't drive it slowly in the town, i recently went on a motorway run (60mls), i was still only getting 30-32MPG, was travelling at 90-95mph, but surely you should expect higher
  7. Thanks for all your advice, i have decided to proceed, but not with directford. On enquire discovered the car was an early 2004 gate release car, and went back to my local dealer to enquire about similar vehicles rather than the factory ordered models. The local dealer then gave me a price of £13,750 for a 2.0 TDCi Zetec in panther black with heated front screen, gated in early 2004 and un-registered, which when you add delivery on to the directford price is about £100 more. Decided that since i know these guys and they are 5 mins from my house this was a better option. Not sure how goo
  8. Thanks for the responses. DougS, certainly hearing that from a previous customer has taken away some of the worries i have over directford. Do you know anyone else who has used them ? Will hopefully find out later today when the cars at the this price were gated, then i will perhaps have a go at the local GK dealer again, for the same gated vehicle. Thanks DarT
  9. Thanks for your views. Moondust, in answer to your question, i am based on the north derbyshire/south yorkshire border and i have not found a dealer that is anywhere near £1k of the directford price. Were you only put off them by the distance ?? I suppose the distance is only an issue should you have major issues and wish to return the vehicle. Any warranty work etc can be dealt with by your local dealer. Good point regarding the gate release and i will check, agree that 2003 releases will probably be more prone to the problems. Will get whoever i go to to confirm this prior to ordering.
  10. Hey guys, Looking for a bit of advice, i am in the process of purchasing a C-Max, but having read the various comments on this site, i am a worried. Prior to actually purchasing a car, i thought i would ask all you guys that have owned the cars whether you think that the C-Max is a good purchase. Let me know your thoughts on whether you would continue with the purchase. On a similar note, has anyone seen a 2.0 TDCi Zetec with met paint and heated front screen cheaper than £13,495. This price is from directford.com, don't know much about them other than they are the internet are of
