  1. Howdy, Can anybody recommend an external bike carrier/rack for the CMax? Cannot use the internal one as I need to cart small people aroung (though to be honest, it is tempting to stick them on the outside and keep my bike nice and clean in the car...). I have seen some posts mentioning that the boot gap is too tight to fit some of the external carriers. Any recommendations gratefully received, etc.. Cheers, Simon.
  2. fill up once a week, generally 480 - 500. That said, it is mostly motorway driving at 70-80 and mpg is around 45-50 mark. It's a 04 2.0 TDCi Ghia
  3. Hi, I stumbled across this website after I had bought my 05 TDCi Ghia, and was scared witless that I had made a terrible mistake... That said, the car is ace, no problems at all with it (apart from lack of aux-in and a leetle bit too thirsty at times) and would recommend it to all and sundry. Hopefully you won't regret it, I know I haven't Good luck! Simon
  4. bit out of your way maybe, but I use Keith Motors (http://www.christchurchford.co.uk/). They seem OK, though a bit quick to recommend tyres/pads when you they do not really need changing.
  5. just seen this, looks good.. Bosch 925S for 29.99 http://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/produc ... 691&page=1 what do the collective wiper gurus think?
  6. Peter - that MPG is pretty poor... I have just done the summer hols road trip (2.0 TDCi), and crusing at 75/80 mph returns (according to the trip computer) 49/50 mpg. That was with 2 adults, 2 kids and stacks of luggage. Having seen the amount of gripes re. mpg, I guess I am pretty lucky and that the car appears to be behaving itself. I can even get as high as 60 mpg if I cruise at 60mph on flat roads (which is not as easy as it sounds, being overtaken by lorries, caravans and Smart cars) :D My daily commute is a 120 mile roundtrip on motorway and averaging between 70 and 90 gives me a
  7. blimey - you are a braver man than I :D My HU is the 6000 CD with big round button (Visteon model I think). If yours is te 6000e as you said, does that mean yours is the Sony? I think the difference may be crucial?
  8. What HU are you using, I have the 6000 CD and would dearly love to plug an mp3 player into a freely available line in via the CDDJ... Is it just as simple as removing the glovebox and rooting around for the relevant dangling connector and plugging in?
  9. Hi, If I have my brake pads replaced by a non-Ford dealer whilst the car is under warranty, will this invalidate the Warranty? Does the Warranty only cover non 'wear and tear' parts? The reason I ask is that the rear brake pads need to be replaced, and local Ford dealership are quoting £90, another place has quoted £45 (with one must assume non-Ford pads). Obviously keen to save a bit of cash...
  10. Got a 2.0 TDCi Ghia, and on my 140 mile daily commute I get: cruise at 55ish (when possible), 55mpg cruise at 70, 45-47 mpg cruise at 90, 38-40 mpg Had it for a few months, and this figures seem to be fairly accurate. Best thing to improve fuel economy is driving style, very defensive, etc.. Si
  11. got a 2.0 TDCi a 3 weeks ago, 1st week 37 mpg - subsequent weeks 47-55 mpg - :D  My change was all down to driving style, the old 'egg between foot and accelerator' seems to work wonders - that plus lots of cruise control (wonder which is more efficient?) That said, my drive is 130+ a day on motorways, so my consumption should be pretty good. Cannot comment on town driving, but my opinion (for what it is worth) is that fuel economy is mostly (not completely) due to driving style.
  12. Hi, got my 04' plate 2.0 TDCi Ghia last week. Its got 14k on the clock already, so should be run in...however (and this is gonna sound familiar!) ... fuel consumption sucks. The car was bought to replace an aged Peugoet 406 (37mpg), and I was impressed with the cars versatility re. seats, general level of refinement and the promise of 50-55 mpg combined cycle. Having had it for a week, I am getting 37mpg. The car run in 140 miles a day, dual carriageway/motorway - so I can usually use cruise control and stick at 70. Is 37mpg good for that speed? I suspect not. Currently, bearing in mind th
