Thanx for the info guys... Should have said in my original post, the car is one year and 8 months old (I bought it when it was 8 months old). The car has done 17k miles, I average about 10k mils per year. I think I am pretty good with brakes, I tend not to brake hard often, and do not ride the brake pedal. Its just that, in my experience, most main dealer garages will try to tell you your pads and discs need changing, even if in fact they do not! Anyone know the recommended minimum brake disc thickness for 1600cc 2006 mk2 focus (zetec climate model)?

Hi all... I'm putting my 2006 reg Focus 1.6 Zetec into my local ford dealer for its first service next week, (I've only owned it for a one year) but I want to check the thickness of the brake discs, to avoid the dealer saying they need doing when they may not need doing. But I've yet to find a workshop manual for the 2005 foci onwards, so I don't have any technical data. can anyone tell me what the brake disc thickness should be (minimum)? And does anyone know whether a workshop manul has been produced yet (for the mk2?) and if so by whom? Thanx

I've read about people adding the ghia interior light unit and wiper stalk to their (non ghia) focus, but how do you actually do this? EG: how do you get the wiper stalk off? does it just pull off, is it screwed? etc. Do the existing wires connect to the new bits in the same way or do you have to modify the wiring or anythinbg else to get it to fit? Does the light unit and wiper stalk work in the same way as the standard ones? eg: what are the benefits, extra features? Thanx

Thanx for that, thought it would be dodgy, anything that cheap making those claims sounded too good to be true! When I asked about the diff between the 100 and 115 bhp 1.6 models, I meant are there any easy ways to spot the two different models externally, eg: engine markings, difference in trim levels, etc? or are they both basically the same apart from the bhp levels? Just interested cos mine is meant to be 100bhp, but I wanted to know how I can tell if it is actually a 100bhp model? Thanx

Hi all... Just got my Focus (2006 model Zetec 1.6 climate) on Saturday and am very pleases with it so far. 8-) However, I have a couple of quick queries... What is the difference between the 100bhp and the 115nhp Focus models? (as there appears to be two 1.6 models, one is 100bhp and one is 115bhp) I have just seen on eBay, an item which claims to add 15bhp to the cars power output, and it appears to be a mod to the IAT sensor (Intake Ait Temperature Sensor) and requires no tools, etc to fit. What exactly is this mod? how does it work? and does it do any long term damage to the c
