  1. Alternatively get Ford to pay for it! - My C-Max had a few of the known issues last year so I contacted the Ford CRC and had a moan. They agreed that I'd obviously been inconvenienced and after a bit of haggling offered me a free 1st service. I've had a few other warranty issues since and they've now offered my 2nd service free as well! If you don't ask you don't get!
  2. That seems low, but it really depends on the type of journeys you're doing. My wife does the short school run and popping here & there and averages about 38-40mpg. If I use it for the longer journey of commuting to work (50 mile round trip and time to warm up) I can average 46-49mpg. The average between us is obviously about 42-44mpg.

  4. Yes, you can program any remote key yourself. It's in the manual, but it's basically turn the key 4 times in quick succession to position II on the ignition, returning to position 0 each time. A beep should sound. Then press any button on the new remote, keeping the key in position 0 in the ignition. Another beep should be heard. Then turn again to position II to end the programming. Bingo - 30 seconds work, but about £30 from your local Ford Dealer!
  5. They took a look at my clutch - conceded that it did smell, but said that this was considered normal. Spoke to the Customer Relations Centre and they said the reason the clutch smells is because of recent a European Directive which prohibits the use of lead in clutches any more. Apparently the new 'non-lead content' clutches have a tendency to stink more than the old ones and a lot of people have complained. Gave me the usual spiel that engineering are looking into it, but there's no short-term fix. Whether it's true or not is anyone's guess! Incidently - went to pick up my car after it had
  6. Update on my wobbly one ..(key)............!! Went to dealer with wobbly key & colleagues 'firm' one for comparison purposes. Dealer grudgingly conceded that mine was definately wobbly and that they'd order me a new one under warranty. Hurrah! Technician took a side swipe afterwards saying "Don't worry the new one will definately end up wobbly over time!". Anyway it's being done next week along with my clutch which stinks every time I'm stuck in heavy traffic or have to do a hill start.
  7. Spoke to my 'friendly' dealer again this lunchtime and they're insisting that ALL Ghia keys are wobbly. I've got to make another trip for them to take a look. They're saying perhaps mines wobblier than others! It's all very frustrating as I've seen at least 2 others who's keys are absolutely perfect and nobody on here seems to have a problem. Why do dealers have to make life so hard for us punters?
  8. Cheers all - From this small show of hands, it appears I'm in the minority with a wobbly one! Despite the dealer trying to convince me otherwise, I think it's time I revisit my friendly local dealer and tell him he's talking out of his backside. I must have reasonable justification to get a new one under warranty (cars only 3 months old). I'd rather not pay for one given the prices quoted on the other topic board - ouch!
  9. Just discovered this forum by accident - there's some great stuff on here. I'm on my 2nd C-Max - went from a 1.8 Zetec to a 1.6TDCi Ghia. Had most of the usual issues including replacement turbo on the oil-burner. The turbo was over-boosting and sending the car into limp-home mode. TDCi is great now all is fixed -when these cars work they're fantastic. The Mrs says it's the best we've ever had and if she's happy then I'm happy. Anyway onto the topic of the post - do any fellow Ghia owning 'Maxers' out there have a Ghia key fob where the stem rattles around in it's housing? This key fob has a q
