  1. yeah sounds more like it, i will get it put on the computer and see what comes up, hopefully something as simple as you said.
  2. My car is now fixed and fine, but unfortunately the battery light is still on the dash, maybe down to loose or damaged wire. I will to have to do some fault finding. Has anyone had a problem with the light staying on after the replacement of an alternator? the alternator is charging the battery fine and i'm having no problems with the car. any ideas?? :?
  3. It could well be your alternator on its way. My car on a few occasions in the past would not start and struggled to turn over due to a flat battery before the alternator totally failed. I done a couple of checks on the battery and alternator but nothing unusual showed up, it did end up being down to the alternator tho, as I found out! Very annoying being stranded with no warning late at night. I would have it checked over so that the same doesn’t happen to you.
  4. Just been told the alternator has packed in! The car has only done 27,000miles :x , never expected that. its getting reconditioned this afternoon, and then fitted first thing tomorrow, then hopefully its sorted :) the total bill is around the £120 mark inc recon and fitting. I only had the tie rods done on the morning to solve the creaking noise on the steering which was a fault by Ford in the factory and then the alternator packed in on the afternoon! couldnt believe it! :x :x
  5. I was driving along last night when suddenly all the electrics started to dim down on my car, started with dash lights, head lights, cd player etc and then eventually all went off. The battery light, air bag light etc came on, and an 'engine system fault' displayed on the dash. Green flag came out and checked the alternator belt and then jump started it. He told me that the alternator was not charging the battery and that the cable running from the alternator to the battery had an in-line fuse built into the cable had blown there for the battery could not be charged, this cable can only be
  6. I took mine to Ford on Saturday, they checked for any recalls using the reg on the computer and he told me there was no recalls on my car?? While I was there a Ford mechanic confirmed that it was in fact the ball joint on the steering rack due to the incorrect or lack of grease. My car is out of warranty, does anyone have a recall number for this?? thanks Justin.
  7. I have the same problem with my 54 plate mk2 focus, I was told strut top mounting so I replaced both sides and still the same. Further investigation found the noise to be coming from the steering rack, from reading this post I now know that it is the tie rod ends at fault. My car is no longer under warranty, is there a factory recall for this fault or do i have to sort it myself. any advice would be great thanks Justin
