  1. I recently had to take a trip to Centre parcs in the lakes and used my old Focus. Wish I would have had my C-Max... We all would have had loads of room instead of having prams and bags on our knees!!! The C-Max is such a good design and a great car to drive... this is why I think people comment on the bad... because the car sets such a high standard for itself that the slightest rattle or problem make the car appear to be worse than it is.... if you understand where I'm coming from. Gavin "The Ford Focus C-Max is a pleasure to drive" - Gavin Horricks (Feb 2005)
  2. I have found that my noise comes from the aircon. Thanks for the suggestions... I'm glad it's nothing serious... now to find out where the rattles and squeeks are coming from.... any tips? Gav
  3. I always have the bloody aircon on!!! not that I appear to have much of a choice with it coming on whenever I clear the windscreen! I thought it was the air con - BUT I'm sure I did a wee test one day and the gassy noise was still there... I will reproduce in more detail today..if i remember of course. Thanks for resurecting this question I had too.
  4. I've had minor problems with my C-Max, which are not related to engine/electrical problems unlike the Diesels. 1.8 Zetec Petrol C-Max. problems ====== Rear wiper motor broker (now replaced) After stalling the car 3 times the car wanted a trip to the dealers (light on). Wind noise and creaking. (Although this comes from nearly all cars and variants). So... I have to say that a 1.8 Petrol seems to be the best option... there are others on here with the same and I don't think there have been any MAJOR problems... Just quirks like the clock resetting and other stuff that is annoying and
  5. Hmmmmm... I hear a noise which comes from behind the dash, but I notice mine most when after a journey, I shut down the engine and can hear a noise which I can only describe as a 'gassy' noise. It's from behind the drivers side of the dash and is there most of the time (i think) but especially noticeable when you turn the engine off... give it a go and see... PS... I went to Ford (Blackburn) and told them about the fuel guage dropping too quick after filling it and that it occasionally stops at the top and they ordered a part... now they want me to have it fitted... I only wanted a softwa
  6. Well, I rang them and asked where my part was.... "Oh, it's already here" Ford receptionist. "Well.... When the heck were you going to tell me?" - Angry me. Will be taking it in to CD Bramall Blackburn next week and have requested that they should update the software in my car so that the dash ROM reads a more recent version than the original!!!! I told them the reason was because my fuel guage was playing up and my clock was resetting...even though it's exagerated.... that should warrant the update - right?
  7. Thought that would get someones attention... but for the wrong reasons... "displays ROM level 0535" Should it be that high? I thought it was 04xx where xx is the effort taken by Ford to update your ECM after you have taken it in over 4 times and asked them to update the bloody software... Sorry. I'm currently waiting for a rear wiper motor... time to make a phone call.
  8. They probably just disconnected the warning/light....  Gav
  9. It's just annoying that they take the car from me for a day for perhaps 30minutes work.... then they can't tell me when the part is due in and will need the car another FULL day to fit the part. I never get a loan car as they never have any - and end up missing work for around 2 hours getting lifts etc.. I just wish they could fit it while I wait! Doh! Gav
  10. OK -they had the car a day and identified the problem. Dodgy wiper motor... they've ordered a new one and they'll need ANOTHER day to fit it.... Why have I been without a car for 2 days? Gavin
  11. Taking this into Ford this week.. will let you know the outcome.
  12. I suspected the relay and will let you know once its been to the dealer. it parks, but not in the right place... so annoying.
  13. I hope that the title of this thread is enough to give you an idea of what I am experiencing. No idea when it started happening, but it was probably today. When I pull the right stalk back, the rear wiper starts to move and then stops early.. It seems it has no idea of where the actual start and stop points are, except that it doesn't over shoot the wipe area, just doesn't stop at the bottom. If i quickly flip the stalk back and then forward, it moves a short distance, but then stops. I am flummoxed. Any ideas or clues would be helpful. Gav
  14. Not a prob vitro... in fact perhaps my digital read out (and other peeps for that matter) may be inaccurate.
  15. And of course, you have to factor in the driver's style, his weight, the engines condition...in fact, if you were to consider all factors, any test - no matter how detailed would be inaccurate... And Jakx...it hit me on the forehead, and infact didn't fly over me 'ead. 8D Anyways, all this is only to identify APPROX figures to give owners like myself more confidence in telling the dealer that my mpg is too low.
  16. Wonder if this fix has reduced mpg?
  17. Just covering my backside! Too many "Where there's blame theres a claim..." people in the world. I did the test and I've got a MPG of around 43mpg.... Yes thats the best I could get over 5-10 minutes. On a lighter note... I had an accident on some black ice on Xmas day... only doing around 5-10 mph MAX going around a corner and smashed my front drivers side into a nissan primera... smashed windows on the drivers side of his car and his door was mangled.... AT 5MPH for fooks sake!!! Anyways, the damage to the MAXI is pretty OK... it'll cost a fortune for my insurance company, but the vehi
  18. Wow... thats fantastic MPG there... I'll be doing the test myself soon in my 1.8 Zetec Petrol.... I'll be lucky to get 50MPG!
  19. I use Aunt Bessies... Ford Fomula E... honestly... I know this is probably true, but if they are going to get silly why not use the term "Secret Formula 12397". Merry Christmas one and all... and seasons greatings to non Christians.
  20. That was exactly the point. Of course it's not going to be accurate... But if we all follow the same procedures then we should all have comparable results... anyone (such as myself) that believes that I always get a low MPG reading will be able to compare it to other C-Max owners of the same model and engine size, and then do FURTHER testing. I appreciate your comments and guidance, but this is a crude like for like test and not an in depth analysis of MPG. Cheers.
  21. Happy Christmas Roland and all C-Max (and Focus) owners! Hope you've got yourself ready for the big man! Gav
  22. Ahhh... Does anyone have a clue if this can be done as an after sales thing? It would be nice to have the privacy glass as I could potentially leave magazines and the kiddies DVD's on the back seats/floor when out and about... I know its not recommened, but we live in a reasonable area - I just don't want the whole street knowing that I have a "My little pony" DVD in the car! Actually it's scooby doo.
  23. So what's the cost of doing the privacy glass on all back windows here in the UK? I've already got my C-Max (12 months old)... do they just stick stuff to the windows? 150 Euro is around £100 right? Gav
