  1. No I didn't. When I dropped off the car I mentioned the brake problem. And the first thing I knew about the £42+VAT was when I looked at the breakdown of the bill!
  2. Yesterday my 04 CMax 2l TDCi Zetec was serviced at the dealers. The car had the squealing brakes when reversing problem mentioned in the known probs stick at the top of this forum. I mentioned this to the dealers when I dropped the car off. When I collected the car they charged me £42+VAT for cleaning out the brakes - no parts were replaced. I have a Ford Direct Warranty and the car is within the first year of this warranty. Does anybody know if this should be covered by the warranty or not? If it should be then how do I go about claiming my £42+VAT back? Thanks, Ben
  3. nah, its just over a year old. Probably for the best anyway - the bulb cost me 28p, it will cost more than that in fuel to get it to the dealers! eidos: thanks for the info... I'll try it later.
  4. I dunno... this is the first time I've had a car new enough to have a warrenty! I guess not then.
  5. Anybody know how to get the RHS rear light cluster off so I can change the brake light bulb? I've found the bottom wing nut in the small compartment in the boot, but with this removed it still seems to be attached at the top. I can't find an access panel that I can remove to get to the top wing nut. Also, the dealer says that brake light bulbs arn't covered by a Ford Direct warrenty, is this correct?
  6. I got mine from the dealer and they only cost me around £21.
  7. I've heard somewhere that the 53 litre tank includes an expansion tank which cannot be filled from the pump but I'm not sure how big this is. I'd like to find out what the 'usable' capacity of the CMAX fuel tank is in gallons. Anybody know?
  8. That's what I thought, I tried explaining that to the dealer but they said it was already up to date. I couldn't really argue about it because as far as I know there isn't a fault. Does anybody know where I can get a list of fixes made in software revisions since version 040D? Then I can go back to my dealer with some ammunition and hopefully get them to upgrade.
  9. My car was at the dealers yesterday... they upgraded the PCM software and the fuel consumption is much better now... around 46mpg if I drive carefully. 33 was the best it could do before. Thats just from looking at the trip computer though. I'll like to see how accurate this is when I've used a whole tank. Does anybody know how big a diesel CMAX 2.0 TDCi fuel tank holds in gallons? (minus the expansion) I also asked them to upgrade the cluster firmware because mine is version 040D and the sticky at the top of the forum says the latest is 0422 but the dealer says that my car already has the
  10. Ford say that the 1.8 should do 39.8 (combind average): http://www2.fordconnection.com/fordconnection/multimedia/gbr_en/002/yyh/gbr_en002yyhfuelspc.htm
  11. Just checked my VIN plate, it says S in the bottom left. So if I don't have a DPF then what could be the cause of the white smoke I mentioned in my original post? I haven't seen any smoke since it first happened though.
  12. I've got a 6000CD single CD player... but it's got a CDDJ button. Does this mean I can just connect an external CD changer unit to my existing player? Where would I get one from?
  13. Thanks for the info, this would definately explain the white smoke, however if your right about it being introduced less that a year ago then my car won't have it because its just over a year old. If it does have a DPF then does this mean that the cerium needs to be replenished at some point? Ben
  14. Just bought a Focus CMAX 2.0 TDCi Zetec, 8k, one year old from Ford Direct via a Ford dealer. I've had it for about a week and the fuel consumption is about 30mpg on average for 50% town/50% motorway. Is this right? The specs for this car on the Ford website state 50.4mpg, should I expect my car to do this? Could there be something wrong with the engine? There are no performance problems or signs that there is a fault. Also, I'm not sure if this is connected with the above but just after I bought it the sales man drove with me to the petrol station to put 1/4 tank of diesel in. Just as I p
