  1. Well, I did it. Picked up my 2.0TDCi Zetec in Machine Silver. Drove 82 miles to my offfice. Stuck pretty much to the speed limits. A44/A34/M4 and then some country roads through Heckfield, Hartney Wintney to Camberley. Averaged 56mpg! Which I guess shows what you can do when you do use a light right foot. I did push a bit harder at times and wow! Have a very slight buzzy rattle from the left hand side somewhere but not loud and I will get my son to sit there and find it. Might just be a few of the odds and sods I had in the car. Otherwise very nice indeed, smaller than my Passat Estate but t
  2. Now that IS impressive. I doubt that is the the actual CBeebies, I suspect a hard core porn movie called "Fizz does Vegas" but I may be guessing, So, I assume the fascia conversion was a stock one from someone like Car Audio Direct with the cubby hole underneath? Colour match is good by the look of it. OK in real life?
  3. Thinking a bit ahead here but I will miss my Blaupunkt Woodstock DAB54 stereo. Looking at the various offerings around the fascia conversion to single DIN its not clear what the best match for my Zetec dash will be. Or are they all the same colour anyway?
  4. Just spoke to the dealer in a nice general conversation way and he confims he will throw in a set of the Ford floor mats rather than the cheap ones and will pay for 3 years gap cover as well. Didn't even push him.... Drove my other potenial choice last night, a VW Touran, the 105bhp TDi model and it goes OK, I don't mind the VW rattle from the engine as my Passat is the same its still a great solid engine. It just lacks an extra few bhp to lift the performance from feeling a bit sluggish to the nip that my 115bhp Passat has. The C-Max 2.0 TDCi is on a different planet of course! Disappoi
  5. The whole body is covered unless they can prove negligence and in many cases they will try. Yours seems to be a difficult one to blame on that. Give them a call and ask.
  6. Made me hesitate again about buying but then I thought tough tittys. I'm buying my 2.0 TDCi Zetec on Thursday and be done with it. If its a lemon I'll just set fire to the dealers premises, boil his bunny and feel better for all that. Not pooh pooing those with problems but I'll take my chances as there are many people who don't have any serious problems. Friend at work has an E class Merc and in 18 months it has had 14 dealer visits for, mainly, electrical problems such as driver window opens of its own accord and very very poor fuel consumption, even for a gas guzzler like that. Oh, and
  7. Oh, don't say that 1955. I was just feeling better about picking my new up on Thursday
  8. The 1.6 petrol I had on holiday was a real surprise to me. The comfort, quality and above all just a great drivers car convinced me to go for a C-Max as a replacement for my much loved Passat. The extra oomphf of the 2.0 TDCi was another surprise. Driven carefully I'm sure I will get good mpg and when I need to overtake.......... Keep checking the deal but the car is brand new, not months old from storage and is the latest specs. Insurance for me was an excellant £320 fully comp which for a car that shifts like that is great. I actually prefer the Zetec interior to the Ghia and will will b
  9. Thanks guys. All of a sudden my concerns are mitigated by the comments about not buying a new model car and the majority who will have pretty much trouble free C-Max's. I feel a lot better :D I have never bought a new model for the very reasons stated. The C-Max is a "mature" model now and whilst not ignoring those that will have problems my confidence is restored. Don't think I mentioned the cracking deal I got as well. C-Max 2.0 TDCi Zetec, Machine Silver (is there any other colour?) on the road.........................£12,400. Thats brand new, UK spec from a main dealer. As an extra I
  10. ...but after reading the posts in the other thread for C-Maxs and some here I'm not so sure now. I know most posts are going to from those with problems seeking advice but the high level of disgruntled MPG posts is scary. I have just sold my 5 year old Passat Estate TDi Sport 115bhp and always had above 50mpg, I drive steady needless to say. Obviously nothing ever went wrong with it, its a VW after all, but at at 5 years and 102k it was time to sell. Had a 1.6 petrol C-Max on holiday for 2 weeks in Majorca and loved the drive. It drives so well but the 1.6 was a bit breathless with 4 plus l
