  1. 150 GBP may well be cheap. 1. You have to buy a new key. Over 50 GBP 2. Find someone who can cut it. 3. Pay one hours labour to reprogram the car tor your keys, Good luck.
  2. AFAIK, you have to remove the barbed self-retainers on the scuttle plastic retained by the wipers and slip in the replacement filter. Looks like a shoddy arrangement compared to the mk1. I am still looking for the jacking points.
  3. Well, you are of course right. I spend too much time with computers. My error.
  4. malckyb ...This should not work with your radio...if it does, I'D be very interested in the build date of your vehicle. Current LX/Sport production has a later 6000CD model, with the aux input; but without the input socket. tomtom70..Ford Europe car radios are made by Verison in Portugal. The idea Sony has involvement is a myth. They are crude devices with single-layer boards; not flow-soldered. Their component cost is somewhere in the 15-20 GBP range.
  5. I have a major issue with headlamp misting when there is a temperature change of 5 degrees or so overnight. The misting largely clears with headlamp use. The US Focus handbook warns of this and states it should clear within 45 minutes. The culprit breather tubes on the headlamp are identical tp those on a Skoda Favorit I owned in the early 90s with the same problem..so much for 1 billion dollars development cost for the Focus. So it is present, and a function of trhe thermal conductivity of the polycarbonate enclosure used by Nippon Denso.
  6. You cannot use aux in on a CDDJ radio..Verison omitted that circuitry. The CDDJ radios were seemingly replaced by 2 models of AUX ones, which work with aux in if your car has the wiring. Mine does not. Keys can be bought from Halfords...google it for inf on other retailers. I researched iPod adaptors to work with the CDDJ radio and found no sure thing, and one Hungary-sourced possible. You can always get your money back if the thing does not work, as ads say...works with 6000CD... I have so far found 4 different models of current shape 6000CD, 3 of which I own.
  7. Yes, it is a total rip-off. They charge one hours labour. The change has been to a rolling code transponder. This is a 40 bit device made by TI. It was recently hacked by some student cryptographers. All these changes seem to be insurance driven.
  8. Wiring from the multiplug is possible. I'm pulling out my radio in the next couple of days, so I will look. In my own case, if the socket is not in the loom, its probably easier to burn audio cds and forget about iPod connection.
  9. No armrest...that's why I bought it ..hated the Zetec armrest HTH
  10. I am now pretty sure my June 2005 Sport 1.6 does not have the 4 hole socket on the airbag loop of the loom. There is a 3 letter code on the loom..tag..perhaps we should compare
  11. Hi I bought a second key remote in the UK. You cannot program it. You have to use a dealet..about 100 euro in UK hth
  12. My Sport 1.6 looks just the same as leenroc...no plug near or above vairbag canister bracket. Is the connector on the airbag spur of the wiring loom or on its own ? Pointers would be appreciated
  13. I think you will find that the plastic battery firewall is in 2 pieces...the left hand and front piece slots out once the attached loom has been disconnected from the clips. You can then withdraw the accumulator forwards. The difficult part is remembering to disconnect the rear post first.
  14. Thanks, homer...missed the screws under the covers
  15. Where are the 7 screws.BTW..i can only see the 2 at the front...
  16. Tamiya make an acrylic model paint called brilliant - i think -orange, which is very similar IMHO. See you local model shop. HTH
  17. Polar Atantic in Wilmslow...147GBP plus hassle Rufur Ford Clitheroe..;.128GBP for an oil and fi9lter change and a pollen filter element...
  18. Thanks. The RFID is not glass, but a plastic wedge. It is a standard Texas Instruments 40-bit part. Perhaps I should be asking if the car has PATS or PATS II fitted. I do not know. fjs
  19. Hi You cannot just pull apart Ford wiring connectors...some are latched. What is the correct procedure for opening the headlamp connectors? I used a 2 foot piece of wood as a lever, but would like a more satisfactory solution that does not mangle the connector latches as using a screwdriver might. T IA fjs
  20. Hi This is my first Ford for 20 years, and first new car for 10. The motor industry has intro duced RFID keys since then. I damaged my original remote, tho it is still useable. I bought another one and had the blank cut. The Focus handbook says how to reprogram the remote, but not the key procedure. I have found the procedure for the previous Focus, but cannot get it to work...key 1 on for less than 10s, then key 2, then new key..produces no led response in my case and new key does not work. Will it ever work? How do I remove the TI RFID from the original remote to put it in the new
