Hi, would anybody on this forum know if it is possible to to set the central locking to "full closure mode" ie, enabling door and window closure from the remote key fob, the handbook indicates this can be set but I can't make it work on my car. 2005 (new shape) 1.6 zetec vct climate. Any info would be appreciated. 8)

:D ... perhaps you should have bought a 1.7 vct Puma (if insurance friendly for you) ... I,ve had a couple and they are a different car to the 1.4... performance and handling are superb... 8)

Car has now been inspected by Ford main dealer (under warranty) they claim the front suspension top bushes are worn (13k mls?) ... they are on back order from ford... they will let me know when to return for repair. I,ll post the results in due course and let you know if it cures the problem. 8) 8)

Are front suspension tie rods a problem item in the new Focus? mine's done 12k and I,m sure I can hear them creak at low speed's (especially going over speed humps) any feedback welcome thank's.

Gear knob mod... sorry the picture is a bit grainy but this is my Focus with a re engineered Puma (solid machined aluminium) gear lever knob, it took a little while to modify and I had to meke a new gaiter clip but the effect is very good and the weight gives a better quality feel to the gearchange... 8)

The time display on my clock (radio) has mysteriously gone all wrong, I,ve had the car for about three weeks with no problem's but noticed this today, only thing I can think is the battery was disconnected for a minor warranty job last thursday and the radio had to be re set. ... has anybody else had a similar problem? :?: 05 '54 plate 1.6 zetec.

:D ... Looks similar, as you say without the alloy plate, the Focus badge to the side looks quite good now they,re fitted in the car. 8)

:D ... Finished up buying from the main dealer (who supplied the car), they gave me a 10% discount. I opted for the better quality set (just under £50) and have to say they are really good, they are similar to the type found in the ghia, they come with proper fitting clips (no more holes in your carpet) and have a very stylish aluminium "Focus" badge fastened to the side (front mats only) well pleased! 8)

:? ... So you were clearly mislead! 8)

:shock: ... if you were sold a VCTi then that's what you should have, a main agent has a duty of responsibility to treat you properly, if you asked for a VCTi and were told your car IS a VCTi then surely a verbal contract has been made!. 8)

:?: Why do you think you have an "ordinary" 1.6? ... what does your V5 say the model actually is? Mine is a 1.6 zetec (vct climate) but the V5 says focus zetec climate T ... 8)

I must admit the non removable facia is not one fords best idea's, they claim the unit is no good to a thief but, the main problem with a car break in is the damage done to your car (damaged glass and paintwork etc) ... it should be really obvious to the (scum) who thieve radio's etc that the one in my car is no good to them! :)

:? ... its stays lit for about 10 minutes, does anybody know why?, as you say its an attraction to anybody walking past. 8)

:D This is normal, this was the first question I asked the supplying dealer after I took delivery of my (new shape) Focus, the radio and oddometer panel stay lit for a while after your journey, still don't know why though! :roll:

:D Hello, does anybody know where I can purchase a quality set of mats for my Focus (new model) I know the agents will have them but I think they would be expensive. 8) I live in the Greater Manchester area.

:? I heard somewhere that Magnatex (or whatever) becomes sludgy due to "sticking" to the engine hot bits after shutdown ... It may be ok but I wouldn't risk it myself. I always follow makers instruction. 8)

:D My new'ish focus zetec 1.6 vcti sounds a little "tappety" from cold, I think this is very normal on 16v engines (where valves are quite small) it only takes a couple of minutes of normal driving to warm up, I once had a Puma that did exactly the same... as it happens this was also a vct engine ... shouldn't worry, drive and enjoy! they really are a nice car to be in. :D
